Discover a New Hobby
Is there a hobby sitting in the back of your mind that you’ve always wanted to try? Well this is probably one of the best things to do when you have nothing to do. Take a chance on something new when you are just having a boring day and no one is around to make it better. Have confidence in yourself that you can learn that new hobby that you’ve been dreaming of. Push yourself to new levels and you just might have something new to tell everyone about.
Write in Your Journal
Do you have a journal or a diary that you've been meaning to write in, since, like. forever? Well here is your chance at cracking open that dusty book with the blank pages and letting your thoughts flow. Who knows, writing in your journal may even spark some new ideas for writing a blog or a book!
Frequently asked questions
Baking
Thanks to my teen step-daughter this idea just popped in my head tonight when she decided to make peanut butter cookies! If you are a teen, please ask mom or dad for permission to use the oven before you bake on your own for the first time. Or if you’re a parent, ask your kids if they would like to help you bake; it’s a great way to get your kids interested in cooking and showing them what actually goes into their food.
Go for a Walk
Get out of the house and go for a walk or even a bike ride. I love just walking around town or through the park to enjoy the beauty of nature. It really opens up your eyes to things you may not have seen before. Go for a walk to discover new shops and hidden treasures in your town that you haven’t been to yet. Then go back home and write in your journal about all the new things you found!
Movie Marathon
Invite your friends over, who also have nothing to do, for the best movie or TV show marathon they have ever enjoyed! This idea will really come in handy on those rainy or snowy days when you don’t have school or work. Do you have the entire series of “Friends” or “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy on DVD? Make some caramel or chocolate drizzled popcorn, invite your friends over, and be prepared to stay up late for an all night fest of great movies and great fun!

Volunteer
Volunteering is also one of the best things to do when you have nothing to do. When you volunteer you are not only making your day better, but you’re also helping to improve someone else’s day and even their life. Call your local Boys & Girls club, retirement home, shelter, or Red Cross to find out if they need help and if you can volunteer for the day. If things go well and they need continued help, ask if you can volunteer every week or once a month based on your schedule.
Organize
Is there a room or two in your home that could really use some organization? Well what better day to clean off your desk or go through those old clothes to organize a yard sale or donation then when you have nothing to do! There were a few days during my two weeks vacation when we just relaxed at home, so I took the opportunity to finally organize my crafts and finish a few scrapbooks I haven’t looked at since last Summer! Every once in a while we really need those "nothing to do" days to do things we've been meaning to get to.
