Someone else Made All the Decisions for You
One of the most clear warning signs you are on the wrong track is the fact that you realized that all the important decisions in your life were made by someone else. If this is the case, from now on, you should try to live your life the way you want and not to please everyone else around you. After all, you know what’s best for you, so don’t let others decide for you. I’m not saying you shouldn’t take advice from your loved ones. Just make your own decisions and assume responsibility for your actions. It’s your life. Live it!
Recognizing that your life's path has been shaped by others' choices is a pivotal moment. Embrace your autonomy and reflect on what you truly desire. Forge a new path by contemplating your passions, dreams, and aspirations. Remember, seeking guidance is wise, but ultimately, your happiness hinges on self-made choices. Start small, with daily decisions that reflect your personal values and goals. This empowerment is not just liberating; it's necessary for a fulfilling life. Assert your independence—the journey is wholly yours.
You Are Too Busy to Establish Meaningful Relationships
If you realize that your whole life revolves around your job and that you are way too busy to be able to build meaningful relationships or to even spend time with your friends and family, then maybe it’s time for you to take a break and remind yourself what are the things that really matter in life. Okay, so your job may give you satisfaction, but you should still take some time to appreciate the wonderful people around you, because just like Marc Chernoff said: “The people you take for granted today may turn out to be the only ones you need tomorrow.”.
Frequently asked questions
You Always Play It Safe
It’s good to be cautious and to try to prevent all unnecessary problems, but you shouldn’t let fear run your life and decide your future, or especially prevent you from being happy. Sometimes you need to take risks in order to accomplish all your goals. I know it’s easier to play it safe but sometimes, this behavior can be counterproductive. Believe in yourself and do everything in your power to fulfill all your dreams! Even if you try and fail, you will still be more successful than someone who never tried in the first place. You will at least learn from your mistakes and you’ll know what you have to do the next time you find yourself in a similar situation.
You Always Choose the Easiest Way Possible
Don’t settle for less just because it’s easier this way! Work hard and take risks in order to accomplish all your goals. Don’t run away from duties or responsibilities. You will overcome all the obstacles that might appear in your path if you believe in yourself. Don’t expect things to just be given to you! Be passionate about what you are doing because “No amount of magic fairy dust replaces diligent, focused, hard work.” (Marc Chernoff).
You Only See the Obstacles in Your Path
Another very clear warning sign that you, my friend, are on the wrong track is the fact that you are not capable of seeing all the beauty in the world because you focus too much on all the obstacles you encounter in your path. Try not to dwell on the negative things so much and don’t keep your head down! There are a lot wonderful things in the world which can really make you happy, so don’t forget about them the next time you’re feeling a little bit blue!

You Complete None of Your Projects
If you’ve started way too many projects and you complete none of them because you’ve lost interest along the way, I would advise you to think about what you really want to do with your life and what your biggest goals really are. Once you discover what your dreams are, you’ll be able to focus all your energy, your dedication and your hard work towards achieving them. Always keep in mind that “We are judged by what we finish and not by what we start.” (Marc Chernoff).
You Keep Toxic Friendships
If you always manage to make time for someone who never has enough time for you or who only calls you when they need you, then maybe it’s best to simply move one and let go of that toxic friendship. True friends should always be there for you, no matter how busy they really are. Don’t waste your time and energy by surrounding yourself with people who don’t appreciate or deserve you! Know your worth, look for real friends and let go of those people who will support you only when it shines!
Try to always remember what are the things that really matter in life. If you realize that you’ve been on the wrong track lately, take action and make a change!
