If you don’t have anything to do, rainy days can either be a ton of fun or super drab, but luckily there are a ton of fun things to do on a rainy day! Whether you want to sit at home all day or want to get out and do something out of the ordinary, there is something on this list for you! There are so many exciting or relaxing things to do on a rainy day, depending on the route you want to go!

1. Read

Read

I’m sure you have a stack of books somewhere in your house waiting to be read. Pick one, make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, find a blanket and your favorite chair and get reading! It’s one of the simplest things to do on a rainy day, but sometimes you just need to be given permission to be lazy and curl up with a good book!

2. Go to a Bookstore

Don’t have a stack of books waiting to be read at home? Want to get out of the house? Go to a bookstore! There’s something so cozy about bookstores on a rainy day. Find a comfortable chair at the bookstore, a book that sounds interesting, and listen to the rain on the roof of the bookstore!

3. Get Crafty

Pinterest is a great tool for a rainy day. A simple perusing of the DIY section of Pinterest and you’ll have a plethora of activities to choose from. Pinterest crafts are seemingly never-ending, so have fun pinning (and crafting) the day away!

4. Go Electricity-Free

Turn off all of the electricity in your house (this may not be up to you if you’ve lost power) and just enjoy the silence. Open the windows and listen to the rain while curled up in your coziest blanket!

Like I said, sometimes you just need an excuse to be lazy, so take this opportunity. Take a nap simply because you can! There are few things better than taking a nap during a rainstorm!

Everyone has a hobby that they don’t get to do enough. If you love baking, bake. If you love painting, paint. Do whatever you love and don’t get the chance to do enough. What a perfect way to spend the day!

With technology like Pandora, Songza, and Spotify, it’s insanely easy to find new music you’ll love these days. A few searches or a few minutes spent browsing your favorite genre and you may find your new favorite song or artist! After you find your new music, curl up in a blanket and listen to it!

8. Watch Movies and TV Shows

I’m almost sure there’s a movie or TV show you’ve wanted to see for weeks, months even, and haven’t gotten around to seeing. Why not catch up on something you’ve been dying to see on a rainy day with nothing to do? Sometimes life gets so busy that you don’t always have time to watch a movie or TV show that you really want to see. Let yourself watch it!

9. Go for a Walk

If it doesn’t seem like your life will be in harm’s way, grab an umbrella and go for a walk. Feel the rain and enjoy it. Depending on where you live, rainy days are more or less rare; so enjoy it while you can! If you don’t mind the rain, going for a walk is a perfect way to end the day!
