OK, so this might seem like a fairly simple decorating idea but it still works! Freshen up your space easily and quickly with a vase of flowers. Unlike a living, growing plant there’s no commitment to keep them alive. Change the water in the vase every day or so and when the flowers have wilted just throw them out! Choose your favourite flowers or change up the colours every now and then to give your space a different feel.

4. Decorative Garlands

Decorative garlands make for some pretty cute decorations. Tassel garlands, like the ones from Confetti System, are a popular choice and can be an easy DIY option but you could also try pom pom garlands or bunting. Hang them up around windows or to liven up a bare wall.

5. Tile Tattoos

Update the tiles in your bathroom or kitchen with temporary tile tattoos and removable tile decals. Like temporary wallpaper, all you have to do is stick them onto the tiles and then peel them off when you want to remove them. However, since they’re designed to be used in wet areas, they’re water-resistant. Choose a design that you like and just stick ‘em up!

6. New Cushions

You don’t have to go to all the trouble of re-upholstering couches to incorporate some new textures and fabrics into your living space. Instantly change the feel of a room with new cushions. Choose a beautiful fabric or pattern and scatter them around on your furniture. When you feel like it’s time for a change, just swap the cushion covers for a new design.

7. Washi Tape

While you may be more used to seeing this masking tape used in stationery and craft projects, washi tape can be a quirky way to decorate your home. The upside of washi tape is that it can easily be removed without leaving marks. Use it to create wall ‘frames,’ to decorate appliances and furniture, on door trims and windows, or even to decorate light switches. The potential decorating ideas are limited only by your imagination.
