There are so many unusual places to hide in a zombie apocalypse. If you know about them, you're much better off and won't be at risk of having your brain feasted upon. When the zombies come, get yourself in a place they'd never look and then you can be in charge of repopulating the world when it's over. Cargo Ship
This is a great place to hide if you know how to drive one. This base can be excellent for holding a manageable group of survivors, growing your own food, and you can be far from the main land. In fact, a cargo ship is one of the most unusual places to hide in a zombie apocalypse, but one of the best.

Passenger Plane
This can be a nice hideout for yourself or a small group. Clear out a few seats, hook up some solar panels or a small generator, and you have a mini mansion.

Hangars
The doors are normally made of steel and if there is a plane inside, then you have a place to sleep and stay warm.

Community Colleges
This mainly depends on where the college is located. Some colleges are connected to other buildings, which allow a person to block all entrances and exits. The college has to be one building so you could defend the ground floor and live comfortably on the upper floors.

Bunkers
These are the ones that have the nuclear symbol. A school might have this symbol too. You can make one yourself. Just find an open field, buy the land (prior to the disaster) and go from there.
