1 Drama Dissipates
If you seem to find yourself in a flurry of drama nowadays, one of the things to look forward to as you age is that the drama will calm down or disappear! How do I know this will happen? Well, there are no guarantees but as you get older, you’ll start to weed out the unnecessary things and people in your life because you won’t tolerate them or you just don’t have time for it! When we’re younger we might feel like we like drama or that it constantly follows us around, but as you get older you’ll probably find that your life overall will be much more peaceful and haters should diminish!
2 Don’t Give a Hoot
Another one of the great things about getting older is that you’ll stop stressing about the trivial stuff! As an older woman who has gone through her share of mishaps and mistakes, you’re not going to lose sleep over the opinions of others who aren’t important to you. You’ll know who matters and what situations warrant your attention, not the inconsequential things!
3 You’re Experienced
The benefits of getting older also include being experienced in a plethora of things and being a valedictorian in the school of life! Every year you get older you have 365 days more experience and knowledge to your benefit! Since you have witnessed and experienced so many things, you can offer your words of wisdom to others and you’ll make much wiser choices in your life.
4 Slow down
When I say slowing down, don’t think I’m saying one of the benefits of getting older is moving at a turtle’s pace, although you can if you want! What I mean is that you won’t be in a constant rush to accomplish everything on your to-do list at once and you can take your time doing the things you want. When you get older you’ll be able to determine what really is a priority and know what you can put on the back burner without it messing up your groove!
5 Do What Works
One of the frustrating things about being younger but a benefit of growing older is that you have all these questions in your mind about what you think you should do even if you don’t quite agree. You should go to grad school or you should have a baby. As you are getting older you’ll no longer have all of these what if questions floating around in your mind. You'll know what you want and you won’t be so hell bent on pleasing others or doing what you think you should be doing with your life!
6 Be Spontaneous
Being spontaneous is one of the things to look forward to when you’re older because you’ll have the time and resources to do what you want, when you want! The only other time you had the luxury of being this spontaneous is when you were much younger and your sole responsibility was school and maybe dance class. Spend each day doing or learning something new, take a trip to a foreign country or just do something that you’ve always wanted to do but didn’t have the extra time to do!
7 Sex Gets Better
Yep, you read that right; a benefit of growing older is better sex! You might not believe it now and you might’ve been under the impression that it only gets worse with age but that’s so not true! There are a number of reasons for this and it’s a combination of more experience, confidence in your sexual capabilities and being more comfortable with your body. Typically, sex in your 20’s and 30’s is a mix of worrying about how you look and how well you perform but when you’re all grown up, you’ll just know that you’re good!
8 Be a Fashion do or Don’t
Things to look forward to as we get older also involve not having to worry about being a fashion do or don’t. In reality, you can dress however you want at any time in your life but you normally have a dress code at work or school to abide by. When you’re older you can rock the hell outta your comfy clothes or get gussied up from head-to-toe every day if you want! The great thing is that you’ll no longer be obligated to dress a certain way and you decide what you wear!
9 Stay up Late
One of the benefits of growing older is that your schedule is as flexible as you want it to be! Of course this is mainly for those ladies who are in retirement age but it’s still something to get excited about! Stay up late, get up as early or late as you want and spend your days and nights doing whatever your heart desires!
10 You’re More Comfortable with Yourself
A benefit of growing older is also being more comfortable with yourself. Whether it’s your body or all of you, you’ll begin to see yourself differently because you’ll know exactly who you are! Gone are the days where you feel awkward and uncomfortable instead, you’ll feel more comfortable with yourself and being the real you! A large part of our youth is spent trying to fit in or discover ourselves, but when we’re older we’ll feel much more inclined to accept ourselves as we are!
I hope these things to look forward to helped you to see how growing older doesn’t automatically mean that your life is over! There are so many wonderful benefits of getting older and you don’t have to wait until your golden years to enjoy them! Remember that there are positives to every year you get older and you should be proud of all of your achievements and experiences no matter what your age! How do you feel about getting older?
