It’s not always easy to put a smile on your face when you’re having a bad day, but there are always things we should remember on days like that! Every girl needs to know how to turn her bad day around, all on her own. It’s like an essential life skill! So here are 7 things to do when you’re having a bad day!
1. Let It out!
When you’re having a bad day, the best thing to do is to just let it out. At least that’s what works for me! I need to talk it out and tell someone, my parents, my friends, my boyfriend, anybody. It’s therapeutic for me, it’s almost like the second I let it out, my bad day goes away. Sometimes all you need is to let it out when you’re having a bad day, then it’ll all go uphill from there!
2. Watch Your Favourite Movie or Show
I’ve come to realize that one of the most important things you can ever do for yourself is to figure out what can instantly change your mood. For me, I know when I’m having a bad day I can watch any episode of FRIENDS or Glee and my mood instantly lifts! One of the best things you can do when you’re having a bad day is to sit back, relax, and watch your favourite show or movie. I’m a nerd, so for me watching The Lord of the Rings lifts my mood! Whatever works for you!
3. Laugh with Your Friends
Your friends are your people, and when you’re having a bad day, they can be some of the first people to put a smile on your face. Depending on what kind of crummy day I have, I know exactly which of my friends to call. Some of them will make me laugh, some of them will listen to me bitch, and some of them will tell me to snap out of it! Your support group is perfect to turn to when you need to lift your mood after a bad day!
4. Get a Hug from Your Other Half
This is the one surefire way I know my mood will instantly get better. One of the best ways to turn your mood around when you’re having a bad day is by just getting a nice hug from your guy. It doesn’t matter what happened during my bad day, once I talk to my man and get a big hug and kiss, I forget about the long, awful day I just had. They’re your other half for a reason, and when you’re sad, they’ll bring out the happy in you!
5. Indulge in Your Guilty Pleasure
Quick – what’s your guilty pleasure? Right now I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every episode out there of Say Yes to the Dress. I watch it on my lunch break, when I get home, and even now as I’m writing this article! But it lets me get lost in the entertainment value of it, and I forget about my crappy day! One of the best things to do when you’re having a bad day is to just indulge in your guilty pleasure. Be it food, a TV show, or window-shopping, just do what you love and your bad mood will slowly start to evaporate!
6. Sing and Dance
This is a fail safe plan. When you’re physically out and about, moving your body and being active, you automatically create more endorphins. And as Elle Woods told us all, ‘exercising creates endorphins, endorphins make you happy!’ It’s chemical! So based on science alone, one of the best things you can do when you’re having a bad day is to sing and dance! There’s nothing quite like putting your headphones on, turning up your favourite jam, and dancing around your room!
7. Pamper Yourself
Relax, take a bath, give yourself a manicure, do whatever you want to pamper yourself! When you’re having a bad day, it’s hard to feel good about yourself. No matter what contributed to your crummy day, be it work, school, your commute, even your friends or family, you need to take time to make yourself feel better! So when your day isn’t just going well, remember – pamper yourself, and you’ll have a smile on your face in no time!
