Friends are very important in our lives. We all need a strong circle of friendships. But there are some friends that you donโ€™t need; this type of friend isnโ€™t giving you anything and may be sucking you dry. These are the 7 types of friends you need to get rid of ASAP.

1. The โ€œItโ€™s All about Meโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Do you have a friend like this? Everything is all about her. To a person like this, friendship doesnโ€™t mean giving each other mutual support and compassion. They want you to be there for them but they lack the ability to return that favor. Youโ€™ll often feel the scale is tipped toward her in a friendship like this.

2. The โ€œIโ€™m Better than Youโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

No one needs a friend who thinks theyโ€™re better than you are. Of course, this friend would never say this outright but they imply it in many ways. They may think theyโ€™re better because they dress better than you do, make better grades, see themselves as morally superior or other reasons. Itโ€™s not wrong if they have a little more than you do in some area; itโ€™s wrong when they give you this attitude. You donโ€™t need a friend like that.

3. The โ€œCanโ€™t Be Happy for Youโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Then thereโ€™s the friend who canโ€™t be happy for you. They usually battle an inner jealousy when something good happens to you. They donโ€™t have the maturity to be happy when things are going your way. They want to tell you how hard their own life is when something good happens. You can identify this friend by how they always rain on your parade.

4. The โ€œI Want to Be Your Only Friendโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Can you say clingy? This friend only wants you and they want you to only want them. They lack emotional maturity. They get angry when you do things with other people and do their very best to tag along any chance they can. Theyโ€™re constantly threatened by your other friendships.

5. The โ€œNegative Nellyโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

We can all get down or feel pessimistic at times and thatโ€™s normal. Weโ€™re only human. But the โ€œNegative Nellyโ€ friend is always this way. You feel like youโ€™re always cheering her up. Being around her is draining out your own happiness slowly and surely.

6. The โ€œImitate Everything about Youโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

This friend falls on the strange end of the spectrum. Theyโ€™re very insecure in themselves and so they fall into the habit imitating everything about you. They donโ€™t have enough confidence in their own identity to be their own person. If you suddenly get into ankle boots then sheโ€™s got to have a pair. Whoever your favorite author is, that becomes her favorite author. Itโ€™s this way with everything in your life and itโ€™s completely annoying!

7. The โ€œYou Must Keep upโ€ Friend

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Then thereโ€™s the friend who wants you to keep up. She expects you to wear certain brands, go certain places and meet other expectations. Sheโ€™s in a certain crowd and to be her friend, youโ€™ve got to earn your place there. This friend isnโ€™t one itโ€™s fun to be friends with and itโ€™s questionable if sheโ€™s truly even a friend. True friends love regardless of the circumstances.

The question to ask in any of these situations is if the friend offers you anything or theyโ€™re just a drain on your life. Itโ€™s up to you to decide whatโ€™s best for your life. Do you have any friends that fit into one of these categories?
