7 Extremely Efficient Ways to Deal with Online Bullies ...

I’m sure there are a lot of ways to deal with online bullies that you already know about, but I wanted to write about this since it has always been a very sensitive issue which affects all of us, no matter age, gender, race, religion, social status or sexual orientation. Online bullies usually hide behind their anonymity because it allows them to say pretty much anything without getting caught and without assuming any responsibility for their words. Many of them have been exposed to violence and rudeness when they were growing up and they actually get a thrill every time they pick on someone even if they don’t have a legitimate reason to do so. Since this is a widespread problem, I thought about sharing with you a few very efficient ways to deal with online bullies, so you won’t let those sources of negativity affect you anymore:

1

Ignore Them

In my opinion, one of the best ways to deal with online bullies is by simply ignoring them. I know this may be hard sometimes because some of those mean words they use can really get to you and they can really bring you down. One of my teachers always says that the worst thing you can do to someone is to ignore them, so I always try to follow his advice every time someone upsets me and guess what, it always works!

2

Expose Them

Online bullies like to hide behind their anonymity because it makes them feel more secure and they don’t have to assume any responsibility for their words or for their actions. If you already tried to reason with them but they keep spreading their hate online, and if you know their identity, just expose them, so others will know who they are. By helping yourself, you can help others as well. Don’t let them get away with it and don’t let them terrorize you or other people!

3

Send Them a Private Message

You can also try sending them a private message, so they can tell you what really bothers them about you so much. What did you do to them that makes them hate you so much? Maybe you’ve hurt them in the past and you didn’t even realize it. In that case, apologize and try to help them move on. If they are just being mean, than tell them that what they are doing is wrong. Don’t be mean to them and don’t be afraid to contact them! Stand up for yourself because this way, maybe they’ll realize that they are hurting an actual person who has feelings, just like them, and maybe this will make them give up their bad behavior.

4

Be Open about It

Show them how their actions or words make you feel. Don’t be afraid to speak up and don’t hide your feelings because you are too afraid that you will fuel their hate by being honest. If you just shut up, the bullies will think that you are alright and that they can keep up with their bad behavior for as long as they want and they might even become even more aggressive. Be open about it. You’ve got nothing to lose and you shouldn’t be afraid to let them know how you are feeling, since being a victim of online bullying is nothing to be ashamed of.

5

Tell Your Friends and Family

If you’re a victim of online bullying and you feel that you can’t handle it anymore, just tell your friends and family about it and ask them to help you find a solution. Just because you seek help when you need it, doesn’t mean that you are weak. Nobody deserves to be bullied, humiliated or criticized, so don’t be ashamed of yourself because you have absolutely no reason to feel this way. Tell your loved ones about this situation and I’m sure you’ll be surprised by the amount of love and support you’ll receive from them.

6

Report or Block Them Online

If you have the option to, just block or report those bullies, so they won’t be able to contact you or leave you mean messages or comments anymore. Don’t allow them to harass you any longer! Just look through your privacy settings on different social networks and make the necessary changes in order to protect your privacy.

7

Keep Records

If your bully doesn’t give up no matter what you’ve said to them, then you could simply keep records of your conversations, of their comments, messages or unwanted images and then just show them to your friends or family members or to any other person who is helping you solve this situation. If things are really bad, then just take them to the authorities and they will know what to do and best advise you.

Sometimes, dealing with an online bully can be very difficult and that’s why, it’s best to not do it alone. Tell your friends and family and don’t be afraid to ask for their help because being a victim of online bullying is nothing to be ashamed of. Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Best way.. Turn off your computer..

My cousin has been dealing with the same girl and her friends bullying her irl and online since her senior year at high school, she is now 23. She is a beautiful woman and these girls are obviously extremely jealous, but some of the things that have been said to her are confronting and absolutely disgusting. I admire how well she has handled it over the years, and I have noticed after reading this article that she has basically done what has been advised here to the letter. It makes me glad that this sort of advice has been given.
