Going away to school seems to get easier each year - especially when you know which things to do before going back to school.

It's so nice to spend time with family, but you always miss your college besties. Since the end of summer is coming in quick, make sure you cram in all these essential things to do before hitting the books again in the fall.

Enjoy Last Summer Days

Only one month left before we have to get back on campus and devote all our time and effort on getting a degree. So it’s perfectly fine if right now you will devote all that time and energy on having fun. Go to the beach, amusement park, attend your friend’s party, or go on a small trip. This way you will get all that wild energy out of your system and will be fully prepared to concentrate on studies.

2

Go Shopping

There is almost nothing I enjoy more than going shopping for school supplies. Buy some cute notebooks, pens, pencils, and everything else you will lay your eyes on. Having nice stationery will help you enjoy your time at classes and will keep you more focused.

3

Stock up on Some Vitamins

Summer is a perfect opportunity to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you possibly can. Trust me, you will need that extra reserve of vitamins while writing those essays and trying to keep your mind clear for midterms and finals. Also, you might want to do some research and buy organic multivitamins do give you some energy and keep you healthy for the fall.

4

Buy Your Textbooks

Ok, that sounds less fun, but you should do thorough research and find good deals for your textbooks. From my experience, campus bookstore is not always the best place to go to, as textbooks there seem to be more expensive. I like renting from Amazon or other online sellers. Last semester I’ve spent less than $100 on all my textbooks and that sounds like a great deal to me.

5

Go Shopping Again

This time is for new clothes. It’s always nice to refresh your wardrobe with some new pieces in which you will feel comfortable and confident. Get rid of everything that doesn’t fit anymore or everything that you haven’t worn for more than a year. You don’t have to spend tons of money on buying new designer and super trendy clothing, as most likely it won’t be as trendy in a few months. If you get several basic but good quality pieces, your wardrobe will already look different. Stuck up on some cardigans, solid color tees, and jeans that fit you REALLY well. You can never go wrong with basics. Also, don’t forget to buy a new comfy pair of shoes in which you can run around campus all day long and don’t feel like someone is torturing your feet.

Adjust Your Sleep Pattern

Summer is the time for endless parties, sunrises, and random sleep. However, if you continue going at the same rate you won’t last in school for too long. You will lose your focus, will constantly feel tired, and simply just won’t be enjoying your college time. Start going to bed and waking up at the same time approximately two weeks before your school starts. After doing this for several weeks, early mornings won’t be as harsh on your, you will look better, and you will definitely feel better.

7

Spend Time with Your Family

Heading back to college is always fun and exciting, but don’t forget that your family will not see you for couple months if you are going somewhere far. Even if you attend college nearby, you will be so occupied with your studies, that you won’t have any time to spend it with your parents or siblings. So, go and spend some quality time with your loved ones, take some pictures, and create awesome memories that will keep you and them going until you come back home or have some spare time.

What do you do before you go away to school each year?
