10 Reasons Why You Should Re-Read Harry Potter ...

By Kelly

Harry Potter has always been one of my favorite books, and it got me thinking about the top reasons to re-read Harry Potter. With my Winter break coming up, I have decided to read the series for a second time. These are the reasons I am most looking forward to re-reading Harry Potter and why you should re-read the books again, too.

1 Teaches You about Friendship

Through thick and thin, Harry, Ron, and Hermione remained the best of friends. That is one of my favorite things about Harry Potter. It teaches readers that, no matter how bad things get, they put friendship first. Can you think of a better lesson, or a better reason to re-read Harry Potter?

2 The Characters Are Great Role Models

Harry shows courage, Ron shows Loyalty, and Hermione shows Intelligence. All are qualities a person should strive to display. The characters in Harry Potter all have some quality about them that makes them a great role model.

3 Teaches You about Courage

One of the main themes of Harry Potter is to remain courageous no matter what the odds. That is one of the biggest reasons you should re-read Harry Potter; it will inspire you to stand up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.

4 Lets Your Imagination Run Wild

With spells, creatures, and everything magical, it is easy to let your imagination run wild when re-reading the Harry Potter books. Even if you have already seen the movies, you can imagine the characters and settings the way you want to.

5 You Will Catch the Little Details

When reading the books the first time, you had no idea how everything would tie together in the end, but J.K. Rowling did. She planted little details in each book that connected the ending. Try and look out for them when you are re-reading the book and admire how discreet they were when you first read the books.

6 Teaches You about Love

Ron and Hermione’s relationship is probably my favorite love story. It wasn’t the typical "meet each other and fall in love at first sight" love story. They became friends and had a rocky relationship when it came to their love life. But in the end, they belonged together and that’s all that mattered to them.

7 You Can Read It at Any Age

Sure, Harry Potter started out as a children’s book, but that doesn’t mean that only children can read it. Many of the themes in the books have a darker undertone that is more appropriate for adults, which is another reason to re-read Harry Potter.

8 Hogwarts

What’s not to love about a school that teaches magic! I was genuinely upset when I turned 11 and didn’t get my invitation to Hogwarts. So I live vicariously through the characters of Harry Potter as they experience the moving staircases, floating candles of the Great Hall, and all their magical classes.

9 Dumbledore

Dumbledore was by far my favorite character in the Harry Potter series. Not only is he incredibly wise, he is also quite funny. And as the series moves on, you learn more about his past and get to see into the world of Dumbledore.

10 Magic!

Because what other book has all of these amazing characteristics…and magic! You should re-read Harry Potter, not just for the magic in the book, but because of the magic you feel when you are reading them. Harry Potter is one of the most iconic books of our age, and when you are a part of that, it is just magical.
