Crime shows = life, and I love podcasts about true crime. Not in a creepy killer way, but just in the sense that they're absolutely fascinating and riveting and different from one episode to the next. For those times you can't be home watching them on TV, these awesome true crime podcasts are with you on the go so you can take your crime thrillers with wherever you travel. Just beware. These will have you up all night...

1. Casefile

Listen at: casefilepodcast.com
"Casefile" is no-fluff and straight to the point, and is one of my favorite podcasts about true crime. You could listen to the host – who stays anonymous – talk for hours in his Australian accent. While it might take a few listens to get used to his way to speaking, you’ll find that his storytelling gives you everything you ever wanted to know about the case. I recommend starting off with his four-part series on The Night Stalker. Don’t listen to this one before bedtime!

2. My Favorite Murder

Listen at: myfavoritemurder.com
Looking for something more lighthearted? "My Favorite Murder" is hosted by comedians Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff. By the end of the podcast, you’ll feel like you’re best friends with Karen and Georgia. I recommend starting at the very beginning, but you can choose any episode you want and you’ll get a taste of Karen and Georgia’s personality – and you’ll learn about some crazy murders. Stay sexy, don’t get murdered!

3. Small Town Murder

Listen at: audioboom.com
James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman get right into the murder story on this podcast, but not before they give you some details – including a real estate report - about the strange small town that it took place in. They give the facts but add some comedy to the story, as a lot of these criminals do some wild stuff. Every episode is great, so pick one that looks interesting! And if you run out of episodes, they also host "Crime in Sports."

4. Up and Vanished

Listen at: upandvanished.com
This is one of the most popular true crime podcasts out there. Payne Lindsey digs deep into the disappearance of Tara Grinstead. There are a lot of twists and turns in this 11-year-old cold case. This podcast goes in chronological order, so start at the first episode. You might end up binge listening this one, because it is gripping.

Sunshine and blue skies bring positivity and joy and it's important for every woman to take full advantage of it. Even when stuck indoors, it's still possible to enjoy some good vibes. 5. Generation Why

Listen at: thegenerationwhypodcast.com
Aaron and Justin discuss theories and share their opinions about unsolved cases. They branch out into mysteries, conspiracies, and controversies, as well as true crime. I recommend listening to the Lululemon Murder and Lori Erica Ruff. They have over 200 episodes, so you won’t run out of things to listen to. Justin also hosts another podcast, "The Peripheral."

6. The Vanished

Listen at: thevanishedpodcast.com
"The Vanished," hosted by Marissa Jones, gives straight facts about missing people. Many of these cases are recent. Marissa interviews family and friends of the missing to get information about their possible whereabouts and where they were last seen. She then gets the word out about missing people all over the country. Her episode on Chris Turner is gripping.

7. Bloody Murder

Listen at: bloodymurder.podbean.com
Two Aussies, Barney Black and Tara Sariban, discuss lesser known true crime stories. They always end their episode with an “Aussie As…” which is a more lighthearted tale about a funnier Australian crime. This show has the perfect amount of banter, and Barney and Tara are both great at telling tales of crime. I suggest listening to “The Norwegian Black Metal Murder" and "Crazy Shelley Knotek” to get started.

8. True Crime Garage

Listen at: truecrimegarage.com
Grab a chair and grab a beer! Nic and the Captain hang out in the garage drinking beer and discussing a wide variety of true crime cases. They hit many of the big cases, including Tupac, John Wayne Gacy, Casey Anthony, and Elisa Lam. Their episodes on Brandon Lawson blew me away. They really put in the research and make comprehensive and informative episodes. Many of their episodes are two or three parts, which are great for long plane rides or a day at work.
