If you’re a bit of a gamer girl (or guy) then you’re sure to keep on top of the newest releases when it comes to PS3 and Xbox games, and you’re probably aware of some of the most visually stunning PS3 games around on the market today. But even with the run-up to the release of the PS4 this year, there are still plenty of visually stunning PS3 games being created, and their graphics will blow you away! If you thought The Last of Us was something special, wait until you see some of these beauties.
1 Beyond: Two Souls
Released in the US on 8th October and the UK on 11th October, this action game adds a psychological thriller twist to the mix, and features the voice talents of Ellen Page (Juno) and William Dafoe. It’s more like a movie than a game, and comes from the mind of the director of the award-winning game, ‘Heavy Rain.’ You play Jodie Holmes, a young girl with incredible powers. Expect to experience various different settings, each equally graphically stunning as you are drawn into Jodie’s world and begin to discover the truth behind her powers and who she is. I personally can’t wait for this to be released, as it’s set to be one of the most visually stunning PS3 games of the year – and it’s exclusive to PS3!

2 Batman: Arkham Origins
Being a fan of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I’m really excited for the release of Batman: Arkham Origins on 25th October. So excited in fact that I already have a copy on pre-order online for the boy (which I’m looking forward to borrowing!) This game will introduce a prequel storyline to the other two games, and begins before Gotham City’s most notorious criminals took over the city – you’ll play as a young Batman and meet many important characters. With new enemies, exciting new gadgets (taking down enemies with the ‘Remote Claw’ is going to be fun!) and an amazing new crime system for hunting for evidence, this installment in the Batman series is set to be the best yet!
3 GTA V
Never having been a massive fan of Grand Theft Auto, I wasn’t that excited to see that GTA V is being released this September. I’ve since changed my mind though, as having watched some trailers for the new game it does look incredible! You’ll play one of three characters in the largest open-world environment to hit the GTA series yet, which means more opportunity for exploration and side missions. A unique blend of gameplay and storytelling opens up the game to new players, and it’s set to harness the full power of the PS3’s processor. It looks like the most ambitious and graphically stunning game to be released by Rockstar Games yet!
4 Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
The original Assassin’s Creed was one of those PlayStation 3 games that had everyone talking – stunning visuals, epic gameplay and brilliant cut scenes that drew you into the story. This newest installment sees you play Edward Kenway, a pirate captain, and take to the high seas with your pistol and cutlass as you fight enemies, explore hidden coves and enjoy the best Assassin’s Creed multiplayer experience yet! This is one game that I’m really looking forward to, and it will be released in the UK on 1st November (29th October in the US).
5 Call of Duty: Ghosts
November 5th is a day that many men (and women) in the UK have been waiting for with bated breath. It’s the release day for the new Call of Duty game, which is set to be a bestseller! Whilst I’m not really into war games myself, I’ve been told that this is going to be a great new installment to the series, and having played Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 online before and really enjoyed it, I’m quite looking forward to seeing what this one looks like. Expect an all-new next-gen engine as well as a new story and setting to enjoy!
6 Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
I’m a bit of a Final Fantasy addict, although the last two games haven’t been as visually stunning as I had hoped. Hopes are high though that Lightning Returns will be the game to finally get me addicted again. It’s a bit different from other FF games as you’ll be in direct control of Lightning as you experience the new battle system, which focuses on action-oriented combat whilst also incorporating some of the series iconic elements and characters. The release date is still to be confirmed, but I’ve already got some money put aside for this!
7 Dark Souls II
If it’s old school RPG games that you love, with a bit of action thrown in to the mix, then the first Dark Souls game was probably right up your street, and this new sequel is sure to rock your world, with multiplayer gameplay added to the package! With amazing graphics, brutal battles and more customization options than ever before, the only thing you won’t like about this game is having to stop playing to go to sleep. You’ll enjoy playing a new hero in a new setting, with plenty to keep you challenged. The release date is as yet unannounced, but it looks likely to be early 2014.
With the PS4 being released later this year, you might be surprised to see all the great new titles that are coming out for PS3, so whether you’re buying a new PS4 or sticking with your trusty PS3 console, there are plenty of games being released to keep you busy throughout the winter months! Which games will be making your Christmas Wish List this year?
