Let Go

You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles. ― C. Joybell C.

This quote by C. Joybell C. is one of the most enlightening quotes to hang on your wall for various reasons. First, the message that C. Joybell C. is trying to convey is that you should not let anything that burdens you to weigh you down. Whether you are stressed or feeling down, it is always better to take a deep breath before tackling any issues. Also, nothing important is worth the stress. If something is hurting you, you should find a way to get rid of the source of pain immediately. Don't let anything or anyone stop you from getting back up on your feet!

2

Doctor Who

We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? ― Steven Moffat, Doctor Who

This is one of my favorite quotes from the series "Doctor Who." I like that the everyday occurrences of our lives are equated to stories. Nothing is ever set in stone. If you made a mistake, it may not be fully erased; however, the point still stands that you can start over! This means that there is always going to be a chance for your story to be written. As a 'Whovian', I fell in love with this quote and decided to get it printed on my police box necklace!

3

Mermaids

I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living. ― Anaïs Nin

I'm sneaking this quote onto this list because I fully believe in the idea behind it. It may be easier to take the simple route in life but it won't be as fulfilling. Don't be afraid to cast the sails away and wade through troubling currents; you will be happier with your success knowing that you had to earn it. I ended up choosing this as my senior yearbook quote when I graduated from college this past May because I love what this quote implies. My time in school may not have been smooth sailing but I am more grateful that I was able to get through it and become the person that I am today. I've always found myself imagining that I could hear the sincerity behind Anaïs Nin's voice. Also, how could you not find a quote that metaphorically mentions mermaids endearing? Everyone knows that mermaids are awesome!

4

Literature

It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it. ― Oscar Wilde

If you are a bibliophile, then this quote will definitely resonate with you! I think that it is important to promote literacy and the active use of the imagination. This is one of the reasons why I love reading! Oscar Wilde's words revolve around the idea that the books you read for fun in your spare time are the ones that most ascribe to true character. I love reading books that focus on the effects of society on the characters in a particular time period and comparing their views to the ones society has today. Whatever your reasons are for reading, the point remains that reading is important!

5

Be You

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ― Bernard M. Baruch

As Bernard M. Baruch's most famous quote, I agree that you should never be afraid of being yourself. It doesn't matter if your interests vary from those of your friends; if they can't accept you for who you are, then they are not worthy of you! I cannot stress enough the fact that you should always be proud of yourself, quirks and all! Don't change yourself for the sake of keeping up false relationships with friends. If you have to question whether you belong, then this is not the right group for you; their insecurities will weigh your self-esteem down!

Famous Quotes

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

Niccolò Machiavelli
6

Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself

Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric. ― Bertrand Russell

Because of Bertrand Russell's sheer brilliance, this should be taped at the top of your wall! I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a wrong answer; the only wrong answer is the one that is not voiced! You should never let your fear of being ridiculed stop you from standing up for what believe in. Everyone can relate to this; being afraid of the unknown is a part of being human. Don't ever let this stop you from embracing your ideas! You deserve to be listened to when you have something to say. Do you like mermaids? Stand up and say it loud and proud!

7

Who Are You?

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning. ― Mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi's words also tie in with the overall idea of Russell's quote. Everything comes down to whether or not you have the confidence to achieve your goals. They will sometimes be obstacles that you find along the way that are trying. Don't ever let yourself be discouraged by this! The only way to continue on your path to success is to keep trudging through all the frustration. The difficulties you have faced will make you stronger!

8

Bye Bye Birdy

I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will. – Charlotte Brontë

This quote was taken from my favorite novel, Jane Eyre. I truly adore this book because of the feminist undertones littered throughout each chapter. The titular character Jane Eyre fights to be seen as a woman independent from both her love life and her life as a governess. This message is extremely empowering because it shows that women should not be treated as gentle or helpless creatures. You are beautiful because you have free will; no one should be allowed to force you into one role for the rest of your life. This quote reminds me that the fight for women's right still rages on.

9

Victories and Defeats

I am a series of small victories and large defeats and I am as amazed as any other that I have gotten from there to here. - Charles Bukowski

This last quote holds one of the greatest messages of all time: It is okay to make mistakes because you are only human. This does not mean that you are failure! On the contrary, being able to make mistakes and learn from them signifies your growth as a person. One misstep should not ban you to a life of regret. There is always time to turn your life around!

After reading this list of quotes to hang on your wall, I hope you find yourself being enlightened by the words of people who paved the way for the world today. An important thing to remember is that you should never let the stress of a situation cause you to admit defeat. The path to victory lies in the strength you have to get back up again! You should always be confident in your abilities! Are there any quotes that you treasure dearly?

Here's one I have in my room: "Think! You can think any think that you wish!"-Doctor Suess

Lovely...

Awesome!

Loved this !

#6 nice

#5 is Dr. Seuss!

Thank you Cassandra for this beautiful article. From a fellow Whovian.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ― -- dr.seuss

Umm #5, I kind of have an objection to that. If everyone said what they felt like saying, I'm sure people would mind, especially if what is said is about them. I think some things should be left unsaid!
