7 Ways to Make Christmas Special This Year ...

There are so many ways to make Christmas special. That means you can find something to make this year even better than all the years that went before it. When you’re a kid, there’s something so magical about the holidays, but as you grow and get older, it can seem less magical and more tedious. With all the shopping, cooking, wrapping and parties, Christmas can be super tiring. Don’t let that take the wonder out of it though. Try one of these ways to make Christmas special and you’ll be back in the spirit in no time.

1 Start a Tradition

Remember all the traditions that make the holidays so comforting and memorable? You might not be little anymore, but one of the easiest ways to make Christmas special is to start a new tradition. Maybe you cut down your own tree or add a special new ornament to your tree every year. Whatever you decide to make your tradition, it’s sure to give just the right air of specialness to your Christmas season.

Frequently asked questions

2 Look at the Lights

Take some time out of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and drive around looking at the lights. You’re sure to get into the spirit and you can make it an excuse to drink a huge hot chocolate. This is an especially glorious thing to do if you have kids. Don’t forget to turn on the Christmas music while you’re at it.

3 Read a Book

Whether you snuggle with your kids and read The Grinch Who Stole Christmas or you read a holiday baking cookbook, the story and pictures are sure to get you in the spirit. There are loads of good novels that take place during Christmas and no kid is going to turn down reading beneath the Christmas tree. Sounds fun and festive, doesn’t it?

4 Watch Movies

I always know Christmas is on the way when I watch Elf and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. What better way to make the holidays special than to watch your favorite Christmas movies. Enjoy holiday snacks while you watch to make the whole thing even more epic. What’s your favorite holiday movie?

5 Give Back

You’ll never treasure a moment more than you do when you make someone else’s holiday special. Volunteer to wrap presents at a local shelter, feed the homeless on Christmas Eve or buy a gift for a child in need. All of these things will make the holidays special while taking the focus off the materialistic part of the holiday. You’ll appreciate your Christmas even more when you make it great for someone else.

6 Deck the Halls

It’s easy to get into the holidays when your house is decorated to the nines. So, put up your Christmas tree, hang the stockings, and generally just go all out and light up your entire house. Put lights outside and don’t forget to put a little something in your office so you can stay in the spirit even when you’re at work.

7 Go Shopping

Even if you don’t buy anything, hitting the stores during the Christmas season is fun. Browse the displays and let yourself get carried away by the excitement in the air. There’s nothing better than letting the anticipation build a little and seeing all the decorations and gifts is a sure fire way to do it.
