8 Ways to Be More Optimistic ...

These ways to be more optimistic are some steps you can take towards living on the bright side of life. Being optimistic means seeing the good in everything and not letting the small stressors of life get in the way of your happiness. I know at times it might seem hard to see the good in some situations, but with these ways to be more optimistic, finding the silver lining might become second nature to you.

1 Get a Mantra

Getting a mantra is the first of many ways to be more optimistic. A mantra is simply a statement you live by. It can be anything ranging from “you are beautiful” to “look towards the future.” To be more optimistic, try repeating the mantra “look for the good” everyday. This will be a constant reminder to always being positive. After a while, you won’t even have to remind yourself to say your mantra, it will just be second nature to you.

2 Listen to the Right Music

It is astounding how much of a difference music can make. If you start your day with the right music, you can put yourself in the optimistic mood you need to stay positive all day. I personally prefer the song “Good Life” by OneRepublic to start my day off, but any music you have that makes you happy is perfect. Positive music can turn you into a more positive person.

3 Surround Yourself with Optimistic People

You should always surround yourself with people who make you a better person. So how can you expect to be optimistic if you are always surrounding yourself with people who bring you down? By surrounding yourself with optimistic people, you will take on their tendencies and become more positive. Your friends are a key part of your disposition, so it is important that they are people who will make you happy and positive.

4 Pay Attention to the Details

I am not talking about the details that help you succeed at your job or are necessary for a DIY. These are the details that make every day beautiful. Every day you should take in the little things that make you happy. Feel the sun shining on your face, eat that little cupcake you have been craving, and flirt with the cute waiter. All of these little things are great in helping you see the positive in every day.

5 Open Your Mind

One of the best ways to be more positive is to have an open mind. If you are so set on being sad, angry, or anxious, you will never see the positive. You need to sit down and clear your mind to let in all of the good. Only once you are open to optimism will you be able to live with an optimistic outlook. There is so much good in the world, and all it takes is an open mind to see it all.

6 Look for the Silver Lining

Take a note from Monty Python and always look on the bright side of life. No matter what situation you are in, there is a silver lining. It might be small or hard to find, but it is there. If you can see the good even in the worst situations, it will show you that things are not as bad as they seem. And most of all, that they will get better. If you focus on the good instead of the bad, you will tend to be more positive and optimistic all the time.

7 Be Thankful

Take some time out from your day to relax and think about what you are thankful for. Are you thankful for your friends, family, health? It can be anything. Make sure you are grateful for all you have. It can lead you to seeing how every situation has something to be thankful for.

8 Make Other People Happy

Another one of the ways to be more optimistic is to make other people happy. There is no better way to feel positive about yourself than by making others happy. It puts you in an outstanding mood and really makes you reflect on what it means to be happy. So go out and do something nice for a stranger. It will make someone’s day and it will leave you feeling more optimistic and positive.

At times it can seem hard to feel optimistic if you are down and stressed. Being optimistic comes more naturally to some people than others and that is okay.
