Put Your Phone Away
One of the tricks to make more time in your day is to put your phone away! Smartphones are incredible and I could never live without mine. Today, phones connect you to the internet and social media, entertain you with movies, TV shows, games, and music, plus it’s how we connect with people, and so much more! However, cell phones are distracting and keep you from finishing a task sooner or even starting a task at all. Help yourself by separating yourself from your phone to have more time in the day to do other things!
Television
We all need and love our leisure time. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to relax is by watching TV. However, TV can become distracting and take a lot of time out of your day. Remember, TV is a privilege and it’s not mandatory – don’t let it control your life! Instead, allot yourself only one to two hours of TV per day. The less TV you watch, the more time you’ll have to spend on high priority tasks during the day.

Schedule
Sometimes people have too much time in their day but don’t know how to spend it efficiently or productively. Others don’t have enough and are always stressed out and in a hurry. A simple solution to finding balance in your life is by scheduling your time. Invest in a daily day planner and schedule your time evenly between tasks that you need to get done. Scheduling your time will stop you spending too much time on certain things or on the wrong things.
Rise and Shine
I should probably take my own advice and wake up earlier during the day. Like I said earlier, we all enjoy leisure time but sleeping the day away is only hurting yourself. Every hour you sleep away during the day is an hour you could spend finishing chores, completing tasks and even enjoying your free time with friends and family. Make it a personal goal to wake up early every day and go to bed sooner at night – that way you’ll have more of the day to spend productively, as well as more of the night to relax.
Do a Little Bit Everyday
If the idea of starting and completing tasks all in one day is daunting and tiresome thus resulting in you procrastinating to the last minute, break down your chores so you only have to do a small portion every day. Doing a little every day adds up, plus you’ll strike a good balance between work and play. Rather than getting everything done at once you can pace yourself. Besides, slow and steady always wins the race.

Make a List
I find the best way to relax is to get all the big, high priority things done first and work towards the smaller things. That way, even if I’m not able to finish the smaller things I can at least know I got the important things out of the way first and there’s less on my mind. The best way to decide what is high and low priority is to make a list. Another benefit of making a list is that you have something to refer to so you can pace yourself as well as not forget anything that needs to be done.
Pre-plan Meals
I find that I spend a lot of time during the day thinking about what I’m going to eat throughout the day (I’m a foodie!) A great way to eliminate time lost deciding on what to eat or preparing meals is by pre-planning your meals a week in advance. You can even go one step further and start the prep work for a lot of your meals – for example, if you know you’re going to have a salad for lunch on Wednesday you can always pre-chop your veggies or if you’re having pizza for dinner on Friday night you can grate the cheese beforehand.
It’s easy to find time during the day but the hard part is to discipline yourself to actually make the time. However, once you form good habits like watching less TV or waking up earlier, you’ll find you have a lot more of the day to spare doing important things. What are your suggestions on making more time during the day?
