Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
I actually was not a huge Nirvana fan in the 90's, it was not until I heard this song right at the end of the 90's that I fell in love. Kurt Cobain (R.I.P) was a legend. He was the boy that brought grunge to everyone and seriously guys, this is one of the best songs of the 90's that is still played on the radio. All of the time! So smell some teen spirit and watch the video – it's friggin' good!
Waterfalls by TLC
There wasn't a time in the 90's that I didn't hear a song from TLC. They were HUGE in the 90's and I swear that Waterfalls was one of the most controversial and dramatic videos out there. It spoke to you and nowadays, it doesn't seem like a lot of music videos do that. I still love this song and it's one of the constant songs of the 90's on my 2005 iPod.
Frequently asked questions
MMMBop by Hanson
Oh-em-gee guys … I feel like I am 14 again whenever I listen to this song. I am such a Hanson fanatic – I'm talking about I still am. Hanson was the first concert I ever saw, the first band I really ever loved and Taylor was my first crush – ever. Mmmbop will always have a special place in my heart and I still get chills whenever I see the video! While writing this – I watched the video 5 times … tells you I'm still a fan right? Don't judge!
My Name is by Eminem
Now that we've talked about my first love, let's move onto my second love: Eminem. While my mom wouldn't let me really listen to him when I was a kid, I can appreciate his music now that I'm older. My Name Is was his first single, his first song with Dr. Dre and I have to say, I still love it! It's unique, different and it changed the rap world for the better. Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
The City of Angels is a movie that still gets me teared up without fail. This song is a song that gets me going from the first line. I love the video, I love the lyrics, I love everything about the Goo Goo Dolls. This is truly one of the songs of the 90's that blow my socks off every time I hear it!

My Heart Will Go on by Celine Dion
If you were a 90's kid, you know that you bawled your head off at the movie theater when Titanic came out. It's still a movie that gets me, it's still a movie that I watch ALL the time on TV. The theme song though? Celine Dion took it to the next level with this beautiful song. It's classic, it's breathtaking, it's tear-provoking. Goodness, I even cried listening to it while writing this! If you haven't heard it – listen to it, it's beautiful!
Losing My Religion by R.E.M
In the 90's, I wasn't the biggest fan of R.E.M, but I do love this song. When Finn in Glee covered this song, it inspired me to listen to R.E.M all over again and this song has been a favorite ever since. It's a classic folks and it was born and bred in the 90's – can't get better than that!
Wannabe by Spice Girls
All 90's kids know who the Spice Girls were and knew Victoria Beckham as Posh Spice. This song – oh goodness, this song brings back so many memories of VCRs and dancing in my parent's living room in front of the TV! It's so fun, so funky and so quirky! I absolutely love the Spice Girls (don't tell anyone 'kay?) and still listen to them … sometimes! Again – don't judge!
Sex & Candy by Marcy Playground
While Marcy Playground might not be the biggest hitters in the 90's, I always thought that this song was cool, the video was Tim Burtonish and that the lyrics were kinda neat. I hate that Marcy's Playground fizzled out, but at least they had one hit right and a video that is pretty awesome! What one hit wonder songs did you like in the 90's ladies? You can share, I won't tell.
Building a Mystery by Sarah McLachlan
Oh Sarah – I loved your music in the 90's and now, you make me cry a little every time I see the ASPCA commercials! This song was definitely one of the huge hits in the 90's and one of the songs of the 90's that I constantly played over and over again in my bedroom. The video though? I actually hadn't seen the video until this post and it's awesome! She looks amazing and the story behind it is so incredible!
