7 Things You Are Responsible for ...

By Michelle

When you get older, you seem to have more and more things you are responsible for. You are responsible for your job, your kids, and many other things. I understand that you sometimes lose track of the things you are responsible for, but hey, you’re human! I know that I’m responsible for taking out the trash, and I always just seem to forget about it. If you have control over all of your responsibilities, you will be on your way to becoming the perfect you!

1

Your Health

One of the most important things you are responsible for is your health. Everyone always told me when I was younger that if I didn’t have my health, I didn’t really have anything at all. They were right. If you don’t have your health, you could have an issue holding a job, raising children, or just going out and having a good time. Take your vitamins every day and go to the doctor regularly for checkups. Stay healthy, and really live your life to the fullest.

2

Your Money

Believe it or not this can actually be linked to your health. If you are financially stable, you will be a lot less stressed and you will be mentally healthy. It is so much easier to go through life knowing that you have no debts to pay to anyone, and that you have extra money to play with, or to have in an emergency. You can pay an accountant to take care of your money for you, but then you’re losing money by paying someone to do the work you can do for free!

3

Your Actions

Along with people telling me that I needed my health, they also told me, "actions speak louder than words." They were right. I have a lot of friends who always make plans to do things with me but they never actually follow through with them. If you do this to people, they will begin to think that you are not a reliable person. If you can’t keep plans with someone, let them know ahead of time so you don’t waste their time.

4

Your Pets

First of all I think that if you can’t take care of a house plant, then you shouldn’t own a pet. You adopted a living creature, so you should be the one who takes it for walks, out to play, feeds it, and loves it. Unless you are going on vacation, you shouldn’t have to hire someone to take care of your animal that you committed to caring for.

5

Your Performance at Work/School

Do your best. It’s really that simple. Even if you aren’t employee of the month, or you don’t have a 4.0, you could be that great one day. If you work your butt off all the time and learn to push yourself, I bet that you can knock everyone else out of the park. Show em’ what you’ve got ladies.

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Your Bad Habits

Everyone has bad habits. They can range from cracking your knuckles (not too bad) to being addicted to crack (terribly bad). But the truth is that bad habits can be broken. It may be difficult, but not impossible. I can’t say that I was ever a drug addict, but I do know people who were, and they broke their habits. You started the habit, and you are the only one who can get rid of it.

7

What You Say

Sure, actions might affect people more than words, but you are still responsible for what you say, and what you don’t say. If you have a co-worker who is saying something mean about another person you work with, don’t join them. If you do, it will come back to bite you. On the flip side, if you see someone who is being bullied, stand up for them and say something about it!

Life would be a breeze if we had no responsibilities. But the sad truth is that we all have responsibilities, and a lot of them. The older we get, the more we have to take on. One thing that you should never do is to blame others for something that you were responsible for. It’s OK to mess up sometimes, everyone does. But when you do you have to own up to it. What are some things that you think everyone has a responsibility for/to?

Thank you for stating obvious things I'm responsible for now that I'm in my mid 20's... There's nothing innovative about this article

Why do we have to take on more responsibility as we grow? Surely that’s a choice, isn’t it? Do we have no say in our lives?

I agree 100%
