In an ideal world, all of us would go through life without having to experience any kind of hardship or stress, but we all know that that is never going to be the case! Stressful events don’t necessarily have to relate to something negative; there is stress that comes out of positive events too, it’s just a case of being prepared for what might be to come! To let you know what you are in for, here are the most stressful events in life!
1. Death of Close Family
Having to cope with the death of a spouse, child, or even the premature death of a parent is, without doubt, the most stressful event you might have to go through in life. It’s not only the planning that you have to do while grieving, but it is also a permanent tear in the fabric of your life.
Divorce is stressful even when it is amicable, because there is an anxiety about starting a new chapter in your life alone, not to mention the fact that there is the risk of things turning nasty at any stage if one or both of you decide to contest something along the way.
Of course, you don’t have to be married to be stressed by a split. The break up of a long term relationship that wasn’t sealed with a ring can be just as traumatic, especially if you were married in everything but name up until the moment you realised it was over.
Hopefully it isn’t something that any of us will have to go through, but imprisonment is certainly one of the most stressful things that can happen in a lifetime. No matter what length of sentence you are serving, you will constantly be on edge for your safety on the inside and your reputation on the outside.
5. Death of a Pet
Many of us love our pets as if they were our children, and when they pass away, it can be just as traumatic as losing a human loved one. It’s also usually a child’s first experience of death, so a lot of adult stress can come from trying to navigate that with your own little ones.
6. Injury or Illness
We can all take normal colds and bumps and scrapes in our stride, but when you get really ill or have a serious injury, that is obviously a time that creates stress because it has more impact on your life that just having to take one day off work or a simple visit to the GP.
Getting married is one of the best things in the world, but it is also one of the most stressful! There is so much planning that goes in to that one big day that some people often start to crack under the pressure of making sure everything is perfect!
8. Being Sacked
There is a lot of stress that comes with being let go from your place of work, and most of it stems from being worried about the new state of your financial safety.
9. Marital Reconciliation
Getting back together with an ex-spouse can be a great thing in the long run, but the initial stages can be very tense and stressful because you are so worried about messing things up again or doing something to change your partner’s mind!
Retirement is something that most of us are counting down the days for, but it does bring its own stresses with it, stresses about finding your new place in society now that you aren't working, and stresses about your new pension income rather than your working salary etc.
