I personally love benefiting from all of the perks of being a nerd. Being a nerd is probably one of my favorite things about myself. Some of my friends may make fun of me for the weird shows and movies I watch or my obsession with science fiction. But I don’t mind because the perks of being a nerd are awesome.
1. Never Playing It Cool
This is one of the most important perks of being a nerd. Simon Pegg said it best when he said that it means, “never having to play it cool about how much you like something.” And he was right. When you are a nerd, you can obsess over all the dorky things you love. Who cares if you watch Star Trek for hours on end? Being a nerd means that you can shout it from the rooftops.
2. So Much Learning
It kind of comes along with the territory that being a nerd means you get to learn so much. It’s not weird when you stay in on the weekends to study and even the shows you get to watch are somewhat educational. Learning comes along with the territory of being a nerd. And that benefits you in the end. Follow your nerdy passions for science, physics, and computers and learn as much as you can.
3. Friendships
Nerds love to hang out with other nerds. The instant I find out that someone watched Doctor Who, we’re instantly friends. One of best perks of being a nerd is that it brings people together. Nerds are very passionate about being nerds, and when you meet other people with that passion, it creates instant friendships.
4. The Best TV Shows & Movies
I love all typically “nerdy” movies and shows. The reason why? Because they are amazing! Ever since I was little, I have loved science fiction and nerdy movies and TV shows.
5. Endless Imagination
Nerds have the most incredible imaginations. They see things in a different way than most people. That’s what is so great about being a nerd. You have an endless imagination that changes the way you see the world. And that can be one of the best perks of being a nerd that there is.
6. Books
Books come along with the territory of being a nerd. As a nerd, you love to learn and that is what books allow you. Books can take you anywhere in the world, all within the comfort of your own home. Being a nerd lets you feel no guilt about cuddling up with any kind of book you want and just losing yourself in a story.
7. Nerds Rule the World
Think about all of the nerds who have done great things. They are the Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Albert Einsteins of the world. They were all nerds and they all changed the world. Being a nerd is becoming more and more acceptable and even more and more desired. So embrace your nerd and go out and change the world.
You should never be ashamed to call yourself a nerd. Being a nerd is something you should be proud of. And if you are going to be a nerd, you should at least enjoy all of the perks of being a nerd. Do you consider yourself a nerd? What is your favorite perk of being a nerd? What makes a nerd a nerd?
