As a bit of a self-confessed geek, I sometimes feel like there are always new gadgets being released to tempt me to part with my cash – must have gadgets that I absolutely have to have, now! I don’t know if anyone else feels like that, or if it’s just me, but some of my must have gadgets at the moment include my iPhone, PS3 and my new Acer tablet – I’m not technology obsessed, honest! Here are 9 must have gadgets that you (or maybe just me) can’t live without this autumn.
1 IPhone 5S
The new iPhone 5S makes me positively drool every time I see it. I’m lusting hopelessly after the white and silver version, with the baby blue leather case; it’s so gorgeous! It’s definitely one of my must have gadgets, although somehow I’m currently managing to live without it. I just have to wait for my phone contract to end and then that baby will be mine!
Frequently asked questions
2 PlayStation 4
OK, so it’s not strictly released in the UK until Christmas (not sure if the US will get it before us?) but it’s still making my must have list. Some of the games coming out for the PlayStation 4 look amazing, including Watch Dogs and The Evil Within, a survival horror game that might actually be too scary for me to play. I’m really excited for its release, but for now I’m happy with my PlayStation 3, which I haven’t actually had all that long!
3 PlayStation 3
I’m not cheating by adding two models to my list – I need both of them to survive! I got my PlayStation 3 quite recently as a birthday treat and really love it – there are some great games, whether you’re into action, survival horror, RPG…the list goes on. It’s definitely a must have gadget for me, as I spend a lot of cold rainy nights online playing with friends or by myself – told you I was a bit of a geek. I bet there are plenty of other girls out there who love their PlayStation 3 too though, right?
4 WeMo Light Switch
I used to love those futuristic sci-fi films I watched as a child, where people would clap to turn the lights on in their home. Whilst this is not quite as cool, you can control the lights in your house from anywhere in the world using Wi-Fi. The light switch is simple to install and is compatible with both Android and Apple devices.
5 Google Chromecast
I love this tiny gadget, which lets you wirelessly stream from your laptop, tablet or smartphone to your HD TV, so you can access Netflix, YouTube, or whatever else you like in full 1080p HD. It’s pretty cool, pretty cool indeed, and I want it!
6 Olympus PEN EP-5 Camera
I love anything retro, so I’m totally lusting after this Olympus camera. It’s only retro on the outside though, as inside it’s an advanced 16 megapixel camera capable of capturing stunning digital shots. With built in Wi-Fi and a 17mm f1.8mm lens available as part of a kit, amateur and professional photographers who love retro are going to fall hard for this baby. I probably don’t need another camera to add to my collection, but it’s definitely staying on my must have gadgets list!
7 Apple IPad 2 (2nd Gen)
I was going to include an Android tablet here, but whilst I love my little budget Acer tablet, it just doesn’t match the feel and quality of an Apple product, for me personally anyway. The iPad 2 2nd Gen is on my wishlist – it’s sleek, it’s stylish, it’s the new version of the iPad! I love how responsive the touchpad is to my rather speedy typing, I love the look of it, the feel of it. I just wish I could buy it right now! It averages 10 hours of battery life on one charge, which is quite a lot better than my budget tablet, depending on what I’m doing.
8 Samsung/LG Curved Oled TV
This is quite low down on my list of must have gadgets, although I really do need a new TV, and when I get one, I would love it to be this one! With a 55-inch OLED display that’s curved, it’s like having the magic of an IMAX cinema experience in your living room. Oh, and did I mention that it looks beautiful!
9 Razer Atrox Arcade Stick
I miss playing arcade games – it’s good having copies on your smartphone or your PC but somehow it’s not the same without all that button bashing! Luckily, the release of the retro Atrox Arcade Stick by Razer has changed all that. It’s so cool and so 80s, with 10 buttons and an eight-way joystick. Kapow!
Now I’m just sitting here wondering which of these gadgets to buy first – I probably shouldn’t buy any until after Christmas. There are always loads of tempting new tech goodies being released though, and it’s so hard to resist, particularly if you’re a bit geek-inclined like me. Tell me, what gadgets are going to be on your Christmas wishlist?
