I have taken up meditation off and on the past several years; however, I am trying to make it a regular practice and listening to meditation podcasts has really helped me. Meditation has been proven to help people improve their health and relieve stress. People who practice meditation on a regular basis generally experience less stress, fewer psychological problems, less pain, improved immunity, and lower blood pressure. With all these wonderful benefits, I have decided that I need to make more time to meditate and incorporate it into my daily routine. If you would also like to start practicing meditation on a more regular basis, these meditation podcasts are very useful. They guide you through a meditation session, which I find very helpful. I am not a person who can just sit and start meditating. I need a soothing voice to lead me.

The Relaxation Meditation Podcast has guided meditation practices that are very soothing and easy to follow. They are narrated by a woman named Lita who has an extremely calming voice, and often they are accompanied by relaxing music. I definitely find myself breathing deeper and feeling more peaceful while I am practicing these meditations. I also find that even throughout the day I am much less likely to be become stressed and tense. If you are new to meditation, this is one of the meditation podcasts that will gently ease you into regularly practicing meditation.
Meditation Oasis is a great guided meditation for beginners. The podcast was put together by Mary and Richard Maddux, and has many different types of meditations to choose from. For instance, there are meditations for patience, compassion, renewal, and loneliness. Many of the meditations are fairly short, which is very helpful for beginners. When I first started meditation, I used the Meditation Oasis podcast and felt very at ease. These meditations last just the right amount of time, which means you won't find yourself counting the seconds until you are finished.
The Meditation Podcast has wonderful meditation practices that are easy and beneficial. The Transformation episode is great for learning how to breathe during meditation. It is also very relaxing as the man who guides this meditation has a very calming voice. I have listened to this particular episode several times, and always feel much calmer when I am finished. Like all of these podcasts, this is excellent for beginners.
Mindfulness of Breath Meditation for Beginners is put together by Lisa Dale Miller, a family therapist based in California. It really is a great meditation for beginners. Miller guides you through the basics of meditation, and she has even included nature sounds in the podcast. It is so helpful that it has received many positive reviews from people who are new to meditation practice. It is not as relaxing as some of the other meditations, but it is a great way to learn how to meditate.
Martin Thomas narrates the Beginning Mediation podcasts, and his English accent is very relaxing. This podcast is for those of you who want to learn about meditation as well as practice it. He has lectures mixed in with meditation practices. There is music that accompanies the meditations, which is something I always like. At times Thomas can be a bit long-winded, but if you want to learn about meditation he is very informative.

The Rising Sun Reiki podcast is narrated by Kathy Pettet. There are four meditations to choose from that are designed to help you tap into your intuition. These meditations are based upon Reiki, which is a Japanese technique for relieving stress and promoting relaxation and healing. Pettet uses guide imagery in the meditations, which is wonderful for people who love to use their imaginations. I find this podcast to be a nice change from the usual guided meditations that focus on breathing.

Lita Stone gently guides the meditations in this podcast. Like the previous podcast, the Guided Meditation Podcast uses imagery in the meditations. The sound of the ocean also accompanies the meditation practice, which is very relaxing. I love the sound of the ocean and found the sound especially calming. There are five episodes you can choose from, with each focusing on something slightly different, but all are equally helpful for reducing stress.
Meditation is something I want to incorporate more into my life, and I have found these free podcasts helpful for making meditation a part of my routine. I have found meditation to be very calming, and highly recommend it for anyone. However, it is particularly beneficial if you have a stressful life. What podcasts do you listen to for meditation?
