Life should be an exciting journey and to make sure it’s always fun and fulfilling, there are important things to do every single day. People perform their best when they feel a sense of purpose in life, therefore using this important checklist of things to do every single day will encourage you to live every day to its fullest and make a difference for yourself as well as for others.
1 Do Something That Makes You Happy
One of the most important things to do every single day is to focus on at least one thing that makes you happy. By doing something that makes you happy every day, each new day will always be anticipated. Personally I love to listen to worship music, write, and talk/be a support system with friends, so I make sure to do all these things every single day. If cooking always cheers you up, do it; if watching a funny movie always makes you happy, do it; if you just like to sit and chill, do it.
2 Make a Checklist
Checklists are a great way to keep yourself in line every day and give each day a purpose. I personally choose to make checklists the night before. It makes me feel more comfortable and confident about what goals to focus on for the next day so I can sleep in peace. (I’m also an OCD freak so lists in general just bring me great joy).
3 Do Something Nice for Someone else
Equally as important as doing something for yourself, make it a goal to do something nice for someone else every day, too. Human beings have 6 core needs and two very important ones are: connection and significance. If you live out each day with the intention of helping someone out there feel connected or significant just by reaching out or saying/doing something nice, you will not only brighten their day but also brighten your own day.
4 Get Some Exercise
I’m not saying go the gym and work out for an hour every day – I’m simply suggesting that you get at least some form of exercise in every day. You can accomplish this goal by taking a 15 minute walk during your lunch break, running up and down the stairs for 5 minutes, walk your dog for 30 minutes after work or school, or even signing yourself up for a 30 minute yoga class. You will see how your life changes by adding this step.
5 Tidy up
To get a feeling of wholeness, satisfaction, and just pure joy, make it a priority to tidy up at some point during your day. As soon as I wake up, I make my bed. Right before bed, I make sure to put away anything that I had taken out throughout the day. Laundry and using the swifter usually happen on weekends but every single day I at least make my bed in the morning and tidy up the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.
6 Try Something New
Another one of the 6 human needs is variety. In order to fulfill this need in our lives it’s important to do something new every day. For those of you who are creatures of habit and like structure (such as myself), this daily goal can start off small: changing your coffee selection at Starbucks; driving to work through a different route; eating something new for lunch. I’ve learned over the years that although having constants in my life is wonderful, I do grow tired and bored, so trying something new every day has certainly added spice and opened up new doors!
7 Dedicate Time to Your Goals
In order to implement these important things to do every single day, it is absolutely imperative that you dedicate time to your goals each day. You will only get out as much as you put in every day. If you willingly choose to give purpose and a sense of peace and happiness to every day, you need to consciously make the decision to dedicate time to achieving it. Don’t let the word dedicate scare you off – if you can do these few daily activities for at least a few days a week, you will unknowingly be cementing the routine in your subconscious.
Every day does hold beauty; every day does hold happiness – it’s up to you to decide if you want to see the beauty and experience the happiness. Follow and live out these few steps and you will undoubtedly see a difference in your everyday life. What important things do you do every day?
