1. Make a List of House Rules

Having a serious conversation on what rules apply when you're no longer a kid living at home is a must. This will prevent any questions of what's acceptable and not. You could even write these on paper so there won't be any confusion. Is there a curfew? Do they want you buying your own groceries? How will you distribute the chores?

2. Saving Your Cash

You're probably living at home to save money for a future apartment or home, so the rent is way less than what you'd be spending outside of home. Try putting as much money as possible into savings at this time instead of spending it on new clothes and going out. Tempting, but so not worth it in the long run.

3. Give Back to Your Parents

Chip in with rent, bills, and other household expenses. This is an obvious one, but if you're parents aren't asking you to help, it may be difficult for you to make the decision on your own to fork over some money. You're an adult, after all.

4. Act like an Adult

If you want to be treated like you're grown up, you can't act like your teenage self. Ugh. I know. Temper tantrums won't work on your parents now, so act respectful even if you disagree. It's their house and their rules you have to follow if you want to live under their roof.

Sunshine and blue skies bring positivity and joy and it's important for every woman to take full advantage of it. Even when stuck indoors, it's still possible to enjoy some good vibes. Check out these unique tips on how to make the most of the weather right at your home. Let's celebrate every beautiful day, no matter where we are.

5. Long Term Plan

The dreaded long term plan. Everyone wants to know what your future will look like for things as big as your career, to as small as what your weekend plans are. Where do you see yourself in the next month, or year? Keeping your goals in mind will help you achieve even the smallest of tasks, so set some for yourself and set an estimated date of when you want to achieve those goals by.

6. Your Love Life Will Be Different

Since your parents are the homeowners, you most likely can't bring your boyfriend around like you used to. Some parents don't want guys spending the night or even being in your room at all. No matter how ridiculous their rules sound to you, don't fight them. Instead, go over to their house or apartment and don't talk bad about your parents. Rules are rules.

7. Plan on Leaving at a Certain Date

Have a rough timeline and let your parents know of when you plan on leaving. Having this open conversation will let them know that you have plans and are actively seeking means of achieving those goals.

With all of these tips, you'll be able to have your independence and live in peace and harmony with your parents without compromising your sense of identity. It's becoming more and more common for 18 to 34 year old adults to live with their parents, so there's no need to feel embarrassed that you aren't on your own ow feet just yet.
