Join a Walk
Across the nations, there are tons of walks that are dedicated to supporting the fight against cancer. The most famous might be the Susan G Komen Walk for a Cure to support Breast Cancer, but Relay for Life is also a pretty famous one. No matter what the walk is or which cancer it is supporting, it can be one of the easiest and simplest ways to help in the fight against cancer.
Donate to Research
While supporting those with cancer is incredibly important, we will only be able to find a cure through research. There are incredible doctors across the nation, working around the clock to find a cure to end cancer. Any major hospital with a research lab will gladly take a donation to support their research labs, or you can donate to non-profits like the Cancer Research Institute or Cancer Research UK. Almost any major cancer organization spends a good portion on their donations raised on research.
Frequently asked questions
Dance Marathons
This might be one of the more fun ways to fight against cancer. What better way to kick cancer’s butt than dancing for an extended period of time? Set one up at your local community center or high school. Have people register and they will pledge a small amount of money for every hour they stay on their feet. I am a part of Penn State’s Dance Marathon (THON), and my sophomore year, I stood for 46 hours without sitting or sleeping. It is easy to ignore the aching in your feet when you are standing up against cancer. Cancer never sleeps and neither do we!
Volunteer at Hospitals
Personally being there for someone fighting cancer can make all the difference in his or her battle. Spend time volunteering at a hospital to make their stay more comfortable, give them activities to do, or anything to make their fight that much easier. People really underestimate how much a simple smile from a stranger can mean to someone undergoing treatment for cancer.
Be There for a Friend
Almost everyone knows someone who is battling cancer. If you want to help fight cancer, help them become a survivor. Be there to listen to them, cook them dinner, drive them to treatment. Do anything to show that you will stand by them during their struggle. People underestimate how important social support is in the fight against cancer. Just being there for a friend can make all the difference.

Stay Healthy
While many cancers cannot be prevented, a great step in the fight against cancer is to stay healthy yourself. A healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices, such as using sunscreen and not smoking, can all help prevent you from getting cancer. It may not be doing much to find a cure or raise money, but by not creating one more instance of cancer, you are allowing doctors and researchers to help others.
Spread the Word
Now that you know all of the ways to help in the fight against cancer, spread the world. Tell others how they can get more involved and encourage your community to help you in the fight. One person can make a huge difference, but a community fighting against cancer is basically an army.
