1 Review Material from School

Hopefully you haven’t tossed all of your school papers and books in the garbage yet, because using them is one of the best ways to study over summer vacation! Don’t let all of those precious notes and worksheets go to waste, but instead keep them in a box or drawer and keep them for the summer time! I started doing this in middle school and I cannot tell you how many times I have gone back and reviewed materials from the previous year during the summertime. It is a great way to prepare yourself for the next year of schooling or just to keep your mind active during those summer months!

2 Summer Classes

Many colleges and high schools offer classes that allow you to lengthen your education during those long, summer months, which can definitely pay off in your future school year! Plus, you can be one step in front of everyone else! If you finish off a few classes during the summer, then you won't have to worry about them during the school year! This is a really great way to stay in front of the pack and keep your brain moving!

3 Summer Camps for High Schoolers

Instead of devoting your entire summer to classes, you could always go to a summer program for a week or two! However, you will definitely want to do a lot of research about the camp or program to make sure it is right for you. A lot of colleges offer on-campus camps and classes for a week or more and usually are specific to one kind of interest like business or engineering. Not only are these programs great to keep up with school but they also look great on college resumes! Keep in mind that many of these do cost money though!

4 Researching

Doing individual research online or with books can be surprisingly helpful! Pick a topic that you are interested in learning more about and start researching! You can find some really cool things that you didn't know before and you might even discover your new passion! You can also do some research on the future classes you are planning to take so you can be extra prepared for class!

5 Visit the Library

Who doesn't love to go to the library during the summertime? Plus, my library always has air-conditioning, which really helps beat the summer heat! But I don't just go for some cold air. Whenever I go to the library during the summer, I like to get new books about new topics that I don't know about! It can be really fun to learn new things in cool, quiet place!

6 Study Group

Summer is all about hanging out with friends, right? Well the easiest way to combine studying and spending time with your friends is to study with your friends! You could arrange to meet up at someone's house and have everyone bring something to study from like a textbook or flashcards. This is a really fun way to keep your mind moving!

7 Online Education

On those days that are too hot to go outside, it is fun to check out some of the many websites designed for learning out there! One of my favorite websites is called OpenCulture.com. I'm constantly visiting to see what new topic I can check out! Another fun website I have found is called lumosity.com. It offers a great brain workout in the form of games and puzzles! Websites for education can be really great because they are so easily accessible! Just be sure that the site is credible because you don't want to learn the wrong information!

Studying over your summer vacation might not sound like the most exciting way to spend your time away from school, however it can reap some great benefits! By working your mind regularly, you will keep your brain up and working and ready for the next school year! Do you like to study during your summer breaks?
