1

Set Goals

Setting goals is one of the best ways to stay motivated at school after the initial excitement wears off. Goals are the single-most effective motivating factor in school. Try to set weekly goals, monthly goals, and semester goals. That way you will have constant and multiple goals you have a desire to reach. Create your goals and write them down in a place you will see every day. It will be a constant visual reminder of why you want to work hard.

2

Stay Organized

It is going to be hard to stay motivated if you are messy and unorganized. Put everything into your planner to keep track of assignments meetings, and important dates. Keep your schedule updated and make sure you are following it. When it comes to your notes, have them all in one place and have easy access to them. Make color-coded study guides and have an organized way of tackling all of your work. By getting organized, you are taking a great step to staying motivated all semester long.

3

Buddy up

Everything is more fun with a friend! Make a friend in your classes and put together a study group for exams. It will turn studying time into social time. Your friends will motivate you and you can motivate your friends. It can be a struggle to spend hours alone in the library doing work, but add in some friends and you will look forward to working.

4

Stay Busy

I personally can never stay motivated if I have too much free time. While I love spending all day in bed watching Greys Anatomy, it just makes it that much harder to motivate myself to get to the library and get my work done. If you have too much free time, think about joining a new club or getting a part-time job. It will add to your resume and keep you busy and motivated all day long.

5

Get Some Inspiration

Never underestimate the power of some motivational quotes. They can be very inspiring when you are tired and spent. Surround your dorm room with quotes that inspire you to work hard and make the most of each day. Listen to inspirational music and watch inspirational videos. It can be a huge motivating factor when the initial thrill of the semester is wearing off.

Take Some Personal Time

While it is nice to be busy all of the time, you also need to take some personal time to recharge your batteries. It is hard to stay motivated when you are running on zero energy. It can be helpful to go on a daily run, do some yoga, or read your favorite book. It will help clear your mind of your busy schedule and help keep you excited for when it comes time to do work.

7

Do What You Love

The easiest way to stay motivated is to genuinely be excited about the work you do. While it can be hard to love hours of chemistry homework, you can turn it into a game or find a fun new way to study. Do extracurricular activities that you are passionate about. When you enjoy and are proud of the work you are doing, it makes it that much easier to be motivated to do a good job.

After a few months at school, it can be easy to lose your motivation. If staying motivated was easy, we would all be eager to do our work all of the time. With these tips, you will be able to get your work done with ease and have the motivation to tackle each and every day. What did you think of these ways to stay motivated at school? What are some other ways to stay motivated at school? Why do you think it becomes so hard for us to stay motivated after the first few weeks of classes?

I wish I would have known this after the 1st week of school

Thank you so much. I needed this and it's sad that you understand unlike my mother. Thanks!

I wish schools would have thought of saying this kind of stuff.

There should really be another category for school things.
