Call Them
Of all ways to stay connected with your family, picking up the phone and calling them has got to be the easiest. Yeah, sometimes times phone calls can be awkward if you haven't talked to them in a while, but who cares? Family is family. There is no reason that you should be more concerned with how you'll be perceived than staying in touch.
Family Reunion
My family doesn't have formally titled reunions. However, we do get together every few months just to be in each other's presence. It's one of the best things that I get to look forward to. It is a blessing to be in the company of people who truly love you and want to see you do well. Do not forget that.

Create a Family Webpage
This is a wonderful way to stay connected and hip too. The webpage should be private, complete with a pass code so that others cannot readily see information. Other than that, it is completely up to you as to how you should design it and personalize it. Your family will love this little hub of creativity. What an easy way to be a family, right?
Plan Family Vacations
Vacations with my family were and are always a riot. There was never a dull moment with those folks. We always had someone our age to play with or talk to. It was a time for bonding and relaxation. Your vacation doesn't have to be big and extravagant, but it does need to be fun! Lighten your load and brighten your smile with your loved ones.
Visit Them
Once I got my license, my parents started pushing for me to go and visit my aunts and uncles more and more. I am so grateful that they did so. I now have a better relationship with them. In fact, my Aunt is one of the first people that I turn to. Having people like that in your life can be empowering if you treat them right. Do not forget your family. They are your backbone.

Sunday Dinner
Growing up, my family almost never sat down to eat dinner as a family during the week. However, every Sunday we would have our extended family over after church for a huge Sunday dinner. I suggest you try and do the same. No, it doesn't have to be on a Sunday. And no, you don't have to dress up. You do, however, need moments like this in your life for bonding.
Support Their Interests
Whether it is your little brother who plays football or your cousin the singer, supporting a loved one in what they love can be essential to building a lasting relationship with them. We all yearn for someone to love and appreciate what we do. Why not be that person for your loved one? Yes it can be painstaking if their "la la las" are off key, but tough it out! They are worth it.
Encourage Them
This one goes towards older siblings and relatives especially. If you have young ones looking up to you, it is your duty to build them up with words and actions of encouragement. Faith is nothing without work. I cannot tell you how many relatives and family friends I have had call me randomly while I am away at college. Just knowing that they are looking out for me has given me so much life. I do not know if I would've been able to grow as much as I have without their constant love and support.
Pray for Them
We all need someone who wants the best for us. The least that you can do for your family is to pray for them. Actually, that is the most you can do. It is nothing to simply throw money at their issues if you are not truly in tune with what is going on in their lives. Prayer is powerful. My heart always wells up when someone tells me that they are praying for me.
When was the last time you spoke to your loved ones? Do not let the busy times pull you away from the people that really matter. How will you reconnect with your family?
