Make the Most of Time in the Car

Driving back and forth to work every day, not to mention the time spent in the car running errands can eventually add up. You can easily spend over two hours of your day in the car and not even realize it! Using that time spent in your car to your advantage is the first step to making better decisions! Pop in a self-help book on CD, or a foreign language CD. You DO have time to learn french! If nothing else, classical music has been proven to lower stress and boost your IQ levels.

2

Re-think Your Bedroom Layout

Have you ever noticed all the stuff you have laying around your bedroom? It's hard to relax and unwind in a room that is piled high with clutter. Teach yourself to make better decisions by picking up after yourself daily. Also, carve out a few minutes of your weekend to take all of the clutter and extra stuff you don't need and move it out of your room or at least out of sight. Relaxation is headed soon to a room near you!

3

Say Yes Sometimes

What would be so terrible about saying yes just once? Making better decisions means realizing that you have to branch out and try new things. So go ahead and go to your co-workers scrap-booking night or meet your neighbor for coffee. You might make a new friend or unearth a new hobby!

4

Get Your Friend to Help

Making better decisions about what you eat can sometimes be difficult, especially when you are at your favorite restaurant. So here's what to do: Take your BFF with you when you go out, and take turns ordering for each other! You can order something delish but healthy for her, and vice versa. That way, you both get something that's good for you, and you aren't tempted to pig out!

5

Choose a Role Model

Sometimes, we all need to stop and think before acting. Thats what making better decisions is all about! Choose yourself a role model. It could be a celebrity, a family member, or a famous person from history. Then, every time you want to do something you know isn't right, stop and ask yourself" What would my role model do?" You will be inspired to make better decisions based on this idea alone!

Don't Overbook Yourself

Declining stuff that you really don't want to do will lower your stress levels and carve out time for things you DO want to do. So next time your annoying friend from school asks you to hang at the mall, don't feel bad about saying no. You won't regret it!

7

Reward Yourself

There comes a time that making better decisions will seem like a chore, especially when you just want to scream into the wind. That's why it's important to have a reward system! Allow yourself to do one fun thing just for you each week. It could be a pedicure, dinner at your fave place, or splurging on a new outfit. Just make sure that you are doing something that YOU want to do!

8

Establish Rules

Here's a tip that I have found to be very helpful many times. Establishing rules with yourself, no matter how trivial they may seem, is a great way to start making better decisions. For example, make a rule that you only watch TV after you workout, or that you pack a lunch to work every day. Giving yourself some structure and habits that are good for you will help to kick out some of the old habits!

9

Turn off the TV

Watching TV while you eat dinner is a not-so-great idea. Did you know that most people inhale up to 40% more food when eating in front of the TV? That's a lot of unnecessary food! So try having dinner at the table, and THEN watching a little TV.

With these fabulous tips, you'll be well on your way to Making Better Decisions in no time at all! Making better decisions is something that you will need to work on-but it's not as hard as it seems. Just try to pace yourself, and use self control. You'll see that making better decisions not only affects your health, but your attitude as well! If making better decisions will help your day go smoother and brighter, then it's all worth it, right?
