Are you looking for ways to celebrate the New Year at home? The New Yearโ€™s Eve celebration is a global occasion, and itโ€™s no lie that most people choose to party the last 365 days away. Whether itโ€™s a fun night out full of dance, or dinner at a fancy restaurant, the truth is itโ€™s most common to celebrate the New Year outside your home. But there are many different reasons why someone would choose to spend this date within the walls of their house. Maybe your financial situation doesnโ€™t allow you to cover the costs that come with going out, maybe youโ€™re away from family and there isnโ€™t really anyone to actually go out with, etc. Well, I myself have had my share of stay-in New Yearโ€™s Eves and Iโ€™m here to tell you thereโ€™s nothing to worry about, and itโ€™s definitely still possible to celebrate. So why donโ€™t we go ahead and look at some alternatives for when thereโ€™s just no plans to step out the door? Here are the best ways to celebrate the New Year at home.

1. Play Board Games with Your Loved Ones

(Your reaction) Thank you!

One of the very best ways to celebrate the New Year at home is with your favorite games. If youโ€™re lucky enough to be spending the New Year with your family or friends, it really doesnโ€™t matter where you are as long as youโ€™re all having a good time. And I donโ€™t know about you, but board games always give me just that. I remember one NYE my parents and I pulled out our brand new Scene It and just played nonstop for the whole night. I had the time of my life! Just make sure itโ€™s a game that everyone involved can enjoy, grab some snacks, and youโ€™re all set.

2. Watch the Ball Drop on TV

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Just because youโ€™re staying home for NYE doesnโ€™t mean you canโ€™t join the fun with thousands of others. Thatโ€™s right, the magic of television allows us to be part of celebrations all over the world, including the most iconic one - The Times Square New Years Eve Ball Drop. Itโ€™s my dream to one day be there in person, but for now, I do make sure to tune in to the livestream every time I spend it at home. It works perfectly because Iโ€™m in the same time zone as New York City, so I can count down with them in real time. But even if youโ€™re not in the same time zone, you can always record it if youโ€™re behind, or tune in to any other televised celebration that might be happening closer to you if youโ€™re ahead. But do remember to have your own glass of champagne ready so you can toast with the hosts!

3. Bring the Party to You

(Your reaction) Thank you!

So youโ€™re 100% set on partying for NYE. Why not just throw the party yourself? All you have to do is invite some friends and family over, play some nice music, and have some food. You could even ask the guests to bring whatever theyโ€™d like to eat or drink themselves to lower the cost. Then when itโ€™s time to celebrate the New Year, have everyone look out the window and youโ€™re sure to get a free fireworks show. What else do you need?

4. Have a Well Deserved Chill Session

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Who says celebrating means dancing, loud music, and crowds? Truth is, everyone has their own way of celebrating things and if youโ€™re just not into any of the above, thatโ€™s completely fine. New Yearโ€™s Eve is the perfect time to enjoy some time alone if you so wish, as everyone else will be busy with their own celebrations. You can lie down with a glass of wine and put on your favorite show or movie, with the knowledge that no one will interrupt you. Even the smallest, simplest thing counts, as long as youโ€™re enjoying it.

No matter what you do or where you go, I hope you end 2017 with a smile on your face. Happy New Year, dear reader!
