7 Warning Signs You Are in Bad Company You Should Know about ...

You should try to pay attention to those obvious signs you are in bad company. It's especially necessary if you always work really hard to become a better person but lately you’ve noticed that something is dragging you down and you still can’t figure out what that thing could be. Nate Steer, an entertainment correspondent, said that “You grow to fit your environment, so make sure your environment breeds excellence and positivity.” If some of the people who surround you are a negative influence, you need to cut ties with them if your goal is to become a better person. Here are a few warning signs you are in bad company you should always consider:

1

They Only Make Time for You when They Need You

In my opinion, this is definitely one of the most obvious signs you are in bad company. When one of your so-called friends only makes time for you when he or she needs you or when it’s convenient for him or her, you should start asking yourself some questions. Is he or she really a true friend or it would be better for you to just let go of that friendship that only brings benefits to them? Don’t beg for anyone’s attention! You deserve so much better!

2

They Are Derailing You from Your Goals

You should always do everything in your power to accomplish your dreams no matter how impossible this may seem sometimes. That’s why it’s really important to always be surrounded by people who support and inspire you. A friend who is constantly derailing you from your goals is definitely a bad influence. One who understands how important your dreams are to you will make sacrifices in order to see you happy and will think about your happiness before trying to make you change your plans.

3

They Discredit Your Abilities

You are capable of achieving anything you want if you are willing to work hard enough to accomplish your dreams. A true friend will never discredit your abilities, will always be by your side and will always support you, no matter how difficult or crazy your goals might be. Don’t let others tell you what you can’t do! By allowing other not so well-intended people to define your dreams and abilities, you’ll only enable them to hold you back and influence you in a negative way.

4

They Are Constantly Lying to You

People lie all the time, but when one of your friends is constantly lying to you (and here I’m not talking about little white lies) and they can’t be trusted with anything, the chances are they are a bad influence for you. When someone lies to you on more than one occasion, they disrespect you and your relationship. Marc Chernoff, one of the people who really inspires me, said that “Those who avoid the truth and tell you only what you want to hear do so for their own benefit, not yours,” and he couldn’t be more right! Don’t put up with all the lies you hear and let go of toxic friendships!

5

They Are Shaping Your Attitude in a Bad Way

I love this quote by Jim Rohn, a very famous self-help author, who said: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If you notice that lately you have changed and it’s not in a good way, you should start thinking about the factors that might have caused this change. If some of your friends are among these factors, you should definitely do something about it. Avoid those toxic friends who are constantly complaining about everything because all that negativity might rub off on you. Surround yourself with people who can help you grown and become a better person, not with the ones who teach you to look at your life like a victim.

They Encourage You to Be Judgmental or Hateful

You should always stay away from those so-called friends who are constantly encouraging you to be more judgmental or even hateful. Nobody is superior and just like you can’t judge a book by its covers, you should never judge a person by their skin color, race, sexual orientation or any other superficial reason. You are definitely in bad company if the ones who surround you can’t see the beauty in all the people because they limit themselves by being so judgmental.

7

They Are Constantly Trying to Change You to Better Suit Their Needs

A true friend will accept and love you just the way you are. They don’t feel the need to change a thing about your or about your behavior because they respect you no matter what you do. If you constantly feel that you are not good enough for your so-called friends, because they always expect you to be someone you are obviously not, it’s best to just take a step back and focus on finding some real friends who will inspire you and be by your side no matter what.

Sometimes it’s really hard to let go of toxic friendships but you should remember that it’s a necessary thing if you want to become a better person. Have you ever had a toxic friend? How did you deal with them? Do you know any other warning signs one could be in bad company? Please share your advice with us and let us know what you think!

SO relate

Haaaaa

Perfectly describes my ex best friend.

I can totally relate. How sad how two friends can become completely strangers .. Sometimes this hardships may come as blessings in disguised. All my goals are now peeking through and I could be more static about new changes. Thanks.

What happens if these things around you at work???? How do u deal with this then.

Unfortunately, this applies to family members as well!!

I was out in town with some relatively new friends yesterday evening and at 1 AM one of them got a small box (very small, he could fit it in the palm of his hand) out of his pocket and asked who wanted more for for the night.. All of a sudden i witnessed how my 'friends' took XTC
