I actually love Journey. I think that their songs are totally unique, totally different and they really changed the world of music. So, what better song to put on my top 80s songs list than Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing'? Listen to it, I'm sure it'll bring back a ton of memories!
2. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics
The Better Half actually pointed this song out to me. I love, love, love this song. I think that for the 80s, the video is so modern, Annie looks amazing and overall, face it, the song is still played on the radio today. It's definitely one of the top 80s songs of the entire decade!
3. Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson is one of the artists that made the 80s. He came out with so many songs and the 80s was his decade. Smooth Criminal is absolutely one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs. It's beat along is awesome! So – is Smooth Criminal on your top 80s songs list?
4. Every Breath You Take by Sting & the Police
I actually am not a huge fan of Sting, but when this song came out? It was completely different. This song is absolutely beautiful. It's the perfect love song, the ideal 'couples' song and it's from the 80s! The video alone is something that you should check out ladies, seriously.
5. Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper
Cyndi Lauper is the girl that captures the 80s for me. Everything from her red, red hair all the way to her lyrics and music. This song? Oh man, it brings back a ton of memories. I also love, love, love the video too! Time After Time will always be one of the top 80s songs for me!
6. Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield
If it's not Cindi, it's Rick Springfield. This guy was made for the 80s and this song – oh god, this song is so awesome. It's not only one of my favorites because Glee redid it (however, I do love Glee's version too), but I love this song because of the raw energy. I wish that I was Jessie's girl after listening to this song!
7. Tainted Love by Soft Cell
What 80s songs list would be complete without Tainted Love? This song has been redone so many times and I gotta say, I still love Soft Cell's the best! I love the voice, the video, the lyrics and the beat – it's such a classic!
8. Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar
How could this list be complete without the lovely Pat Benatar? This song, oh god, this song is so awesome! It's got passion, it's got tons of emotion behind it. So ladies, is love a battlefield?
