The 10 Hottest Dance Songs of 2011 ...

Dance Songs are fun, flirty, generally full of bass, and great for, well, dancing! Even when you hear them on the radio, you're tempted to dance a little boogie while waiting at stoplights or sitting in line at the drive-thru. I love dance songs, even though it takes a lot to get me to dance in public. A lot of new ones hit it big this year, so I decided to take a look at the hottest dance songs of 2011. Let me know what you think!

1

“You and I,” Lady Gaga

At the risk of going against popular opinion, I'm not the biggest fan of Lady Gaga's new album – but the songs I love, I love with abandon, and this is definitely one of them. I love the beat, I love her vocals, I love Jo Calderone, and I love dancing to this! It's no surprise to see that Gaga has one of the hottest dance songs of 2011, either – maybe she even has two!

2

“Grenade,” Bruno Mars

Bruno has a gorgeous voice, and this song took off like a rocket. Or a grenade. You know, pick the appropriate simile. Bruno sings other songs that I like better, but I can understand why so many people like to shake it to this one.

3

“Moves like Jagger,” Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera

This isn't just one of the most popular dance songs, it's one of my new favorite songs ever. I've loved Maroon 5 since they were still Kara's Flowers. This song is a different sound from them, perhaps because Christina is on it. I don't like her as much as I used to, but that's okay. All of Adam's vocals and those to-die-for lyrics make up for it!

4

“without You,” David Guetta and Usher

This song is a little slower than you generally expect from dance hits, but the beat is incredible. It's the kind of groove that makes you want to dance with someone you really like. Usher's vocals add a little sex appeal, as always, and how can you listen to those club riffs without wanting to move?

5

“Cheers (Drink to That),” Rihanna

Rihanna's been responsible for lots of dance songs, and this one is incredible. I love this girl's voice and I love the beats she's been rocking lately. This is a bit more of a slow jam as well, and it describes freaky weekends quite well.

“the Edge of Glory,” Lady Gaga

Told you Gaga would be on here more than once! Her little monsters love dancing to this song, whether they're in the club or their own living rooms. And who can blame them? As with many other songs on her new album, it's got a great message, too.

7

“Blow,” Ke$ha

As I've said before, I'm not Ke$ha's biggest fan … but, at the same time, I can't stop listening to her music. I'd like to blame it on the fact that the Better Half loves her or that she's all over my Just Dance games, but it's more than that. She makes amazing dance songs! I still don't wake up every day feeling like P. Diddy, but I can't help loving her music! (However, what is James van der Beek doing in the video to “Blow,” honestly?)

8

“Give Me Everything,” Pitbull, Ne-Yo, AfroJack, and Nayer

I fell in love with this song when this group performed on, what was it? The VMAs or something. Regardless, it's full of awesome sauce and definitely makes you want to dance. And dance. And dance some more.

9

“in the Dark,” Dev

Dev is kind of awesome. She reminds me a lot of Gaga, in terms of looks and her music. This song has a great beat to dance to; it just makes you want to move. Besides, it tells you to dance. Don't you love it when dance songs tell you what to do?

10

“E.T.,” Katy Perry and Kanye West

Katy Perry takes a lot of flak – like, there's this huge rivalry between her fans and Gaga's fans. Why? Forget who's copying who or which one is dissing the other, this is an awesome song. I love all the techno touches, Kanye's part is awesome, the chorus is incredible – it's. So. Hypnotizing. It just makes you want to get your groove on!

I love almost all of these dance songs – but then, I'll generally listen to anything from Maroon 5. I am so in love with Adam, it's not even funny! These dance songs topped the charts this year, whether on the billboards or courtesy of popular opinion. If you like any of them, sound off it comments! If your favorite dance songs are missing from the list, what tunes would you rather have seen?
