Have you decided to stay in tonight? It’s one of my favorite things to do! Now that it’s quiet and you’re lounged out in your favorite recliner, it’s time to read a book and enjoy a glass of wine. Whether you don’t get time for this indulgence very often, or you just want something new, check out which books to read with which wines and you’ll have a night to yourself that you’ll never forget. Check it out!
1. Read “East of Eden” with a Glass of Malbec
Reading this book is wonderful enough, but when you pair with a glass or two of rich Malbec, you create the perfect night at home. The plot involves two families and how their lives intertwine. Many literary experts call this Steinbeck’s best work so you can be sure you’re in for a riveting tale that will keep you hooked until the wine is gone.
2. Read “the Blind Assassin” with a Glass of Merlot
This book is about a woman who is looking back at the death of her sister. Through it, there are other stories within the plot that give it depth and interest. It’s the perfect book for reading on a night when you just want to sit down and relax. Adding a glass of wine to the mix makes for a night you’ll want to repeat all the time.
3. Read “is Everyone Hanging out with Me (and Other Concerns)” with a Glass of Chardonnay
If you love Mindy Kaling, you will love her light and funny book about her childhood and her foray into the world of glitz and glamour. There’s enough humor in the book to keep you turning the pages, but her heartfelt stories will also make you feel like you’re hanging out with your best friend. Chardonnay is the perfect thing to drink while you read the book because it’s light and fun too.
4. Read “Me Talk Pretty One Day” with a Glass of Sauvignon Blanc
Written by David Sedaris, this book is hilarious. You will love that you can laugh out loud as you read since you’re home alone. The entire book is so funny that you’ll want to start all over once you finish. The Sauvignon Blanc makes the book even better as you savor the delicious flavor of the wine. Try not to laugh so hard you snort the wine out of your nose.
5. Read “St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves” with a Glass of Pinot Grigio
The wine on its own is great, but when you sip it while you read the 10 stories contained within this book, it gets even better. Each story centers around a different tale, such as wolf children who go to school, historical stories or a murder mystery. You’ll be riveted by each and every one and with the wine flowing, you have a perfect night ahead of you.
6. Read “American Gods” with a Glass of Pinot Noir
The pinot noir is dark and enchanting, just like this book. In it you’ll meet a man who has just been released from prison, only to find that his wife has been killed in an accident. What ensues is a dark and deadly fight with the gods and monsters. You’ll love the wine to the last drop and the book to the last page!
7. Read “the Great Gatsby” with a Glass of Champagne
What better to enjoy with an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel than a glass of the bubbly? Even if you’ve seen the movie, you will still enjoy joining Gatsby in everything life hands to him. The book will stay with you long after you finish. Have a glass of champagne for me.
What’s your favorite book? What wine would you drink while you read it?
