8 Songs for Your Road Trip Playlist ...

It's almost that time of the year...time for road trips of course. So what's on your playlist this year? Maybe Isa's list can help. Thanks Isa for getting us in the mood for a summer road trip!

Every time summer is around the corner, I have a serious desire to go on a road trip. Somewhere, anywhere, near or far. I love the spontaneity and the freedom when you’re on the road. There’s music for every occasion and wherever you go, a travel playlist is always a must. It brings back memories of the road. Here are a few songs to add to your playlist next time you plan a road trip.

1. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gay & Tammi Terrell

You certainly remember this 1967 hit single from the movie 'Stepmom'. It’s a great tune to sing out loud in the car. Wherever we go, my friends and I always love to blast this song on the road.

2. Gold on the Ceiling – the Black Keys

itunes.apple.com
No road trip is complete without blasting down the highway a cool rock song. This is a great tune to keep you going on the boring road. Certified platinum in Australia and Canada, 'Gold on the Ceiling' by The Black Keys is one of my favorite travel songs.

3. California – Phantom Planet

itunes.apple.com
Released in 2002, California is the theme song of the television series 'The OC'. If you have seen the show, you probably know this song by heart like I do. This track is about travelling to go see a concert and driving on the well-known U.S. Highway 101 in California.

4. Dashboard – Modest Mouse

itunes.apple.com
Such a great song to play when you start to feel exhausted and need an energy boost. Dashboard is the first single from Modest Mouse's album 'We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank', released in 2007. It’s definitely my favorite song by the band.

5. Everlong – Foo Fighters

itunes.apple.com
One of my favorite songs of all time, 'Everlong' is the second single released from Foo Fighters' album 'The Colour and the Shape'. This track has some great riffs and a rhythm that build a perfect musical blend.

6. California Dreamin’ – the Mama’s and the Papa’s

itunes.apple.com
Who doesn't love this song? The melody is super catchy and it's the perfect track to listen to on a sunny day, particularly if you’re driving to California. This 60’s classic is #89 in Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

7. Poor Some Sugar on Me – Def Leppard

itunes.apple.com
I don't think any road trip playlist would be complete without an awesome classic rock song. I believe this is the best Leppard song. Every time I hear it, I just want to sing out loud and I have listen to this song a million times.

8. Bittersweet Symphony – the Verve

itunes.apple.com
This track by alternative rock band The Verve was released in 1997 and featured in the popular movie 'Cruel Intentions'. The violins melody, the rhythmic pattern, the lyrics and the feeling of it makes 'Bittersweet Symphony' a great song I can’t stop listening to it.

The greatest songs to listen to as you drive are the ones that make the time pass faster and make you feel free. They will make your road trip way more fun. What songs do you have on your travel playlist?
