There are a lot of things in this world that people are understandingly afraid of (heights, snakes, bugs, etc.) But, if you're an avid social media user (guilty), these totally irrational fears run through your head on a daily basis. Seriously, I don't use the term 'fear' lightly... social media users are terrified of having this happen to them - LOL!
I can't even begin to tell you how often I double-check the names on my contacts list before pressing 'send'. Being attentive has saved me from A LOT of potentially embarrassing situations. I mean, who wants to send their "super ugly face that's ONLY intended for my best friend" shot to the guy they're crushing on? No one. No one at all.
Do you ever just creep on somebody's Instagram/Facebook page and go through all their photos? Same. Have you ever liked a photo they posted 6 months ago? Yeah, same. *Cringes* It's not on purpose though, I swear! It's just that the touch screens on these phones make it SO easy to accidentally like/double-tap something.
With Twitter's many updates (ugh), it's become so easy to accidentally follow someone. When someone new appears on your timeline (due to a follower's retweet or whatever the case might be) the follow sign is right next to their name. You could be scrolling down your phone and accidentally tap that 'follow' sign! Awkward.
Am I the only one who feels the need to delete the tweet with a typo and repost it with the CORRECT grammar? It has nothing to do with other people seeing it; I just can't stand to see it on my profile! The worst is when you don't catch the typo and somebody else calls you out on it. Trust me, one of your followers will act like the grammar cop and demand you fix it.
If you have Tinder, OkCupid, or any other dating app on your phone, one of the worst things would be to see your crush on it too. I mean, what does he think about you being on Tinder? Did he swipe left while you swiped right? NOW WHAT?
What kind of irrational fears do YOU have when you're using a social media platform?
