Romantic Thanksgiving Guide for Couples Not near Family ...

Thanksgiving is a great holiday that allows us to stuff our faces with as much food as we want (and we won’t feel bad about it). It’s also a time to remember all of the things in our lives that we have to be thankful for, and traditionally, it’s a way to get together with family. But this isn’t always an option. Sometimes, we might have family in another state, and so Thanksgiving as a whole isn’t possible. It’s not a problem, though! There’s plenty of ways to make the day special with your significant other.

1 Set a Menu

Since you don’t have to worry about cooking for other people, you can make sure you have all your favorites around the table for this Thanksgiving 🍽 Talk to your partner about what you want to have and make a game plan. You can go to the store together and shop for things to prepare for the day. It’s fun to just cook for two; consider trying dishes you might not normally in addition to traditional favorites.

Frequently asked questions

2 Decorate

Something fun to do as a couple is to set the tone for Thanksgiving (and fall season in general). You can have fun picking out festive decorations together and transforming your home into a fall paradise just in time for the holiday 🍂 Another thing that is super fun to do is to look up DIY projects for decorations and make them together!

3 Be Lazy

We don’t know about you, but usually when we get together with family for Thanksgiving, we feel like we have to dress up (or at least look presentable). But this is a day you two are spending together, so be as lazy as you want! Wear comfy clothes or even PJs, and heck, you could even eat your pumpkin pie in bed. There are no rules when it’s only two.

4 Get a TV Game Plan📺

One of our favorite things to do for Thanksgiving is to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Look up what’s going to be on TV and marathon your way through some of the best TV shows and movies that the season can bring. There’s a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving as well as an SNL Thanksgiving in case you were wondering. And we’re big fans of the Friends Thanksgiving episodes, which you can watch via Netflix.

5 Tell Each Other Thanks

As we all know, this holiday is all about being grateful for what we have. What a better way to spend it with someone you love than to take the time to tell them just how thankful you are for them. You can make a card and give it to them, or write down things to read out loud when you’re eating dinner. There’s no right or wrong way for how you want to do this, but it’s nice to slow down and remind each other that you’re important and appreciated💏

6 Brave Black Friday

We think that Black Friday is pretty insane, but since you guys are just spending Thanksgiving together, you could try and hit all the stores early to score some deals. It’s the perfect time to go since you don’t have a family dinner to commit to. It could be fun to spend the night out in the craziness to come home and snuggle with a hot cup of cocoa later. Just a thought!

7 Volunteer Together

An alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving festivities can be in the form of volunteering. Many shelters need extra hands to help serve meals, especially around the holidays. Consider taking the time and serving others this year. It will not only help others, but it will make you feel closer to your partner!

These are just a few ideas for a Thanksgiving spent in the company of your love. It definitely doesn’t have to be spent any certain way, which is the best part about it! As long as you’re together, it will be a great one.
