7 Important Reasons to Spring Clean Right Away ...

Don’t we all need a few reasons to spring clean? Maybe the correct word to use here would be “motivation.” Spring-cleaning can be rough to get started, but once you finish, you feel so accomplished! And regardless of the name, “spring” cleaning isn’t just for springtime. It can be done any time of the year, so don’t make excuses! Here are a few top reasons to spring clean.

1 Finding “Lost” Items

One of the most fun reasons to spring clean is to find “lost” items! Whether they are items you actually misplaced or haven’t seen in forever, or just stuff you forgot you had, this is a good reason to spring clean. Stuff can get easily forgotten when we don’t see it every day, so start digging through those closets and who knows? You might find a “new” outfit, or some “new” home décor!

Frequently asked questions

2 De-cluttering and Organizing

There’s nothing I hate worse than lack of organization. Except maybe clutter. A good reason to spring clean is to get rid of trash or things that are just taking up space, and introduce some organization into your cabinets and drawers! Allow yourself a few days, since this task can be time-consuming.

3 Getting Rid of Clothes You Don’t Wear

What’s the best reason you can think of to get rid of clothes you no longer wear? To make room for new clothes, of course! In all seriousness, having a closet that’s not stuffed full can make your outfit-choosing much easier each morning. Take a few hours and toss out anything you haven’t worn in 6 months. Keep in mind that seasonal clothes don’t count; come winter, you may find yourself wishing you had saved a few sweaters!

4 Making Pocket Money

Spring-cleaning offers the chance to make a little pocket money! How? Because as you clean out and go through each room in your home, everything you collect to get rid of can be sold in a yard sale! Or on eBay or Craigslist if you don’t want to have a yard sale.

5 Cleaning out Mold

It’s gross to think about, but mold does grow in some areas of our house. Usually it’s places we don’t frequent often, such as the toilet tank, the rim under the washer, or the shower curtain liner. Check any place that’s moist and dark at least 80% of the time to make sure you don’t have mold growing!

6 Getting Your House Aired out

My favorite part of spring-cleaning is throwing up my windows and letting a fresh breeze blow through my home. If you don’t live in an area that has clean air (such as a big city), then you could run some fans or burn some candles to freshen your place up. As you clean, the cleaning products will also make your home smell clean and new.

7 Checking It off Your to-do List

You’ve had spring-cleaning on your list for a while now, so it’s just a matter of actually doing it. Once you take the plunge and get it over with, you will feel great peace of mind, and be able to relax much easier in your clean and sparkly home!

I love spring-cleaning, but only because it gets my home free of the grime and grit and clutter that has collected over time. Do you spring clean your home? What are your tips and tricks for getting the job done efficiently? Please comment below, and thanks for reading!
