One of the very first things you can do for your holiday house guests is to have a gift for them under the tree. If they’re going to be there at Christmas then you want them to have something to open. Even something small like a scarf or a pair of pajamas will work. They’ll appreciate the fact that you got them a gift. It’s a small gesture that means a lot.

We visited some family a few months ago and our hostess graciously stocked her fridge with our favorite beverages, fruits and some special treats she knew our children loved. It was a thoughtful gesture that I won’t forget. Stocking your fridge for your holiday house guests can make them feel the same way. They’ll appreciate having their favorites while they’re away from home. If you don’t know what their favorites are, ask.

There are a lot of little things you can do to make your bathroom welcoming. You can stock it with samples of things like soap, shampoo and a new toothbrush in case those are items your guest forgot. You can make sure there are plenty of towels and perhaps even pick up a few new ones if your older ones have seen better days. A bathroom with all the essentials is important. It’s the little things that make a guest feel welcome in your home.

This is a kind thing to do for your holiday house guest. Have a gift basket waiting for them on their bed. You can go in many different directions with what you choose for the contents. You might include some magazines featuring things you know they’re interested in, some bottled water and light snacks. You could choose to go with a Christmas theme. You might include DVDs of some Christmas movies and Christmas candy.

If stockings are a big deal in your family, hang one for your guest. They’ll love the fact that you did this for them. Stockings are fun and there are many different ways to do them.
