Thankful Tablecloth

Thankful Tablecloth If you haven't taken part of this tradition, you should start this year. Have a blank tablecloth and give out markers to all your guests. They can all sign the tablecloth and write sweet notes about what they're thankful for. Bring out the tablecloth every year and see how it grows! It's a beautiful keepsake. This is just one of the many cool new Thanksgiving family traditions to start this year.

The Thankful Tree

The Thankful Tree I absolutely adore the idea of having a "thankful tree" in the house. Just go outside and pick out some tall branches! Then, put them in a festive vase and ta-da! Of course, every tree needs leaves. Add little notes and attach them to the branches. Each note should read something you and your family are thankful for. Have family members/dinner guests add to it while they're at your home and it'll become a beautiful centerpiece.

Turkey Day Awards

Turkey Day Awards What's better than winning an award? The Turkey Day awards are the perfect way to keep the children (and adults) entertained. Throughout the year, keep track of everyone's accomplishments and milestones. Then, award them for it. It can be as easy as giving out their favorite candy!

Thanksgiving Yearbook

Thanksgiving Yearbook A picture is worth a thousand words, right? That's why a family yearbook is a must-have for the Thanksgiving season! Have your dinner guests and family members sign the book and have them write whatever it is they're thankful for. At the end of the night, take a group picture for the book! Repeat this every year and I'm sure the book will become one of your most treasured possessions. For a cute touch, add some polaroids to the mix!

5

Thankful Jar

Thankful Jar At the beginning of the month, set out a "thankful" jar. Every day, have your family members write down something that they're thankful for. You can even add multiple entries if you're feeling particularly thankful on any particular day! On Thanksgiving day, pass the jar around and have everyone read the papers out loud. It'll be sweet to hear people's answers and it'll remind you of all the love that you have in the house!

Turkey Game Night

Turkey Game Night If your family is a bit on the competitive side (aren't we all?) make Thanksgiving night a game night! Whether it's with cards, board games or trivia, the entire family can huddle around and play. To make things interesting, make the games "girls vs. boys" or "children vs. adults"! The losers get to clean up the kitchen! Sounds fair right?

Cooking

Cooking It's never too late to start cooking together! Thanksgiving usually requires a pretty elaborate dinner and if you're the one who's usually stuck in the kitchen, invite your family to join you! Even if it's as simple as passing you the ingredients you need, the kitchen serves as a perfect place to have quality time. I know that my favorite time is spent helping out my mom!

Well, there you have it. These are just seven out of many awesome Thanksgiving traditions that you can start with your family this year! What do you and your family love doing every year to make your holiday season special?
