Motivational, up-lifting songs are just what we need to keep us going, to give us enough energy to get through the normal, everyday life that isn’t always peachy and movie-like. I’m sure you have your favorite ones, the ones that are special for some reason or the ones who make your blood start pumping faster. Well, here’s 8 motivating, up-lifting songs to add to that list:
1. Tupac – until the End of Time
Knowing a bit about the life and tragic death of this great artist will surely leave you wondering why did I pick him and this song for my list. Well, my answer lies right there, in the fact that he’s been with us more than he’s REALLY been with us, if you understand what I mean. Even today, you can still do a remix, air the song and expect it to be a huge hit. That’s how much people love him and that’s how inspiring his words are. I have all of his CDs and, since he’s the first international artist whose songs I’ve heard about 13 years ago, loved instantly and kept listening to this date, I feel I have the right to say that even the darkest, saddest Tupac’s songs have that element of hope.
2. Mary J Blige – Just Fine
Oh, well, this one is definitely too good to miss out on! It’s about loving yourself in all possible ways and enjoying life as much as you can. Now, I doubt anyone of us enjoys the riches and upscale outings to the point where it could be compared to Mary’s celebrity status but let’s remember that she didn’t have a great life either and yet, she managed to pull herself together. That’s really something both motivating and up-lifting at least as much as this song.
3. Katy Perry – Firework
How about this one for your playlist made up from motivational, up-lifting songs? I’d say it’s a definite must-have, plus they still play it on MTV and that means it’s new enough to get you to forgive me for retro songs that are about to follow. It's inspiring in so many ways!
4. Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey – when You Believe
Yes, “there can be miracles, when you believe” so always keep your hopes up and do your best to move the mountains that are blocking your sunshine. You see, many people believe that the only thing you need to do is believe but I say luck sometimes needs a little extra push and when you do your best, and keep believing, it’s just going to start happening very soon. Positive thinking, gals, because when we think this way, even Mount Everest seems like a little bump. LOL!
5. Bon Jovi – It’s My Life
Here’s one for all of you loudmouths and go getters, fierce in-your-face ladies and guys who aren’t afraid of them because they too share the same attitude. One of my favorite motivational, up-lifting songs because it reminds me of what I am and how strong I can be when it comes to defending my loved ones, ideals, things I’m passionate about and myself. Don’t let anybody take that away from you, people! Don’t be rude and mean for no reason but don’t let others walk over you or tell you something can’t be done or that something is “too much for you to handle.” You live only once so make that life worth living.
6. Monty Python – Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
LOL! You got to love this one! And, look, I’ve even chosen a video with lyrics so you could read and laugh over them as you listen to this catchy melody. This song always puts a smile on my face and it’s something I like to hum or sing in the shower (yeah, don’t laugh!) so…
“Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And, 'Always look ooon the briiiight siiideeee of life!'"
7. Bomfunk MC’s – Freestyler
This one is definitely not one of those classic love-myself motivational, up-lifting songs but it sure keeps me feeling energized like a Duracell Bunny. The strong beat and powerful lyrics definitely send electric impulses down my spine and make me wanna do everything extra fast! Definitely put it on your playlist – it might be old but it sure is a good one!
But, enough with me and my fav motivating, up-lifting songs! Tell me more about the songs that are currently on your playlist. What songs do you like and are they slow and emotional or fast and powerful?
