We all know that good karma is the belief that if you do good things, then good things will come back to you; that's not a bad way to live your life and I’m always looking for karma boosting tips to brighten every day. We're all guilty of getting consumed with our lives and believing that we're the center of the universe (when I say 'we' I actually mean 'I'!). Getting spiritual in seconds is the way to liven up your life and here are my top tips to brighten every day that are guaranteed to build up the credits in that karma bank.
Doing little things for others is one of my top tips to brighten every day. What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you this week? What is the kindest thing you have done this week for someone else? Showering people with love and kindness will make you feel amazing. Do something not because you want anything in return, you understand, but because it's a good thing to do. People don't forget the kind things you do for others. Is there an elderly person who lives nearby who could really do with someone doing their shopping for them? Can you spend a few minutes tending to their garden? How about buying a coffee for someone, just because you thought they needed one? I also love the idea of leaving positive affirmations in random public places so people can benefit from them. Now that's spreading the love!
Most of the time, we don't concentrate on our breathing enough and sometimes we need to do that in order to calm and center ourselves. Listen to some Zen music, breathe in deeply and hold for 4 seconds, then breathe out. As you breathe out, imagine all the negativity in your life leaving your body. You will feel Zen-like in minutes!
Inhale that calming lavender essence at every opportunity. I love essential oils and use them in the bath, in massage oils and on my pillow. They are great for creating peace and tranquility in this frenetic world.
Create a vision board and look at it each day. This will remind you of the great person you want to be and where you want to be. Visualize yourself in that place and you're sure to achieve your goals. I can't count the amount of things I have achieved as a result of visualizing it. Make sure your vision board isn't all about material things, though - envisioning yourself loving and giving is a sure fire way of boosting your good karma.
I love positive affirmations and there are so many that can help in a number of ways. I have a great CD I listen to regularly and have them dotted around the house to remind me when my chi is all out of kilter - it can really help to redress the balance.
Carrying around all that negative baggage about that person or persons who have done you wrong will certainly wear you down on life's voyage. If you can't say it to the person's face, say ‘I forgive you and love you’ to yourself and feel the negative feelings fall away.
My partner is a serial smiler. He smiles at everyone he meets. I did quiz him about this one day as we were hiking and he insisted on smiling at everyone he came across and greeting him or her. He said it made him feel good and that it was a nice thing to do. So I tried it and on this rare occasion, he was right. At first when I adopted his ‘smile-at-everyone’ philosophy, I felt like a bit of a lunatic, but smiling does make you feel amazing and now I have tried to adopt that attitude whenever I can. I like to think I’m helping to make the world a smilier (yes, I know it’s not a word but it should be) place!
Doing things for others is one way we can ensure peace in our own little world, if not across the board. What spiritual boosting tips do you have to get you through the day and, indeed, through life?
