Do you wonder on the reasons why you don’t have any friends? I must tell you that this isn’t totally your fault, even though there are a few things you can do in order to improve this situation. Sometimes, people just aren’t looking for new friends and no matter what you do; you can’t make them change their mind. On the other hand, there are a couple of things you are guilty of and that’s why, most people seem not interested in starting friendships with you. My advice is to try to correct those things if you want to form more meaningful relationships. Here are a few interesting reasons why you don’t have any friends that you should definitely consider:
1. You Often Ditch Your Friends
This is one of the main reasons why you don’t have any friends. If you often ditch them, especially when you are in a relationship, don’t expect them to be there for you when you need them. You haven’t been there for them either, so why would they do it for you? That’s why, it’s extremely important to find a balance between spending time with your friends and enjoying the company of your significant other.
2. You Complain a Lot
Do you tend to complain a lot? Well, you should definitely do something to change this bad habit because it can chase people away. The truth is that nobody likes to be around someone who is constantly complaining about every little thing and who is always so negative. Complaining gets old fast, so try to develop a more positive attitude and look for other interesting topics to discuss with your friends.
3. You Can’t Be Trusted
This is another extremely important reason why you don’t have any friends: because you can’t be trusted. When someone is telling you a secret, it should stay between the two of you, so fight that urge to share it with everyone else. Avoid the gossip and keep your mouth shut, because it’s never a good idea to betray what was said to you in confidence. Just remember: if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all!
4. You Expect Too Much from Your Friends
It’s always best to not expect too much from other people, because this way, you’ll protect your feelings and you’ll avoid getting hurt. If you expect too much from your friends, then you might get disappointed a lot, because they are only human after all and people make mistakes. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t care about you; just try to forgive them and move on and most importantly, try to avoid fighting over little things.
5. You Keep Score
In a true friendship you shouldn’t keep score about whose turn it is to pick the movie you’re going to see or the restaurant where you’re going for lunch. Well, it’s best to not keep score for anything. By doing this, you will only annoy your friends and you might even chase them away. Just focus on your friendship and on your relationship instead of always trying to keep everything fair.
6. You Often Decline Your Friends’ Invitations to Go out
It's no wonder you don’t have many friends if you keep declining their invitations to go out. They will only extend an invitation a number of times and if you keep giving them no for an answer every time they invite you out, then you shouldn’t complain about not having friends. They tried to be your friends, you just didn’t allow them to be and they must have thought that you are not interested, so they moved on. Don’t make this mistake! Even if you don’t feel like going out sometimes, just do it and I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time.
7. You Never Talk to People
If you never talk to people, then you shouldn’t expect them to come to you. They probably think that you are not interested or that you don’t like them, so they will not make the first move. Try to become a friendlier person, take initiative and get to know more people. Even if this may seem a bit hard at first, I’m sure it will soon become almost your second nature and social interactions will not horrify you so much anymore.
Sometimes it can be really hard to meet new people whose company you’ll enjoy, but, you shouldn’t lose hope. Work harder on keeping the friends you have and keep on looking for new friends!
