Chintz - a Perfect Pattern? You Decide!

Well I didn't know that! Chintz is actually the plural of the word chint and it was originally a woodblock printed, painted or stained calico produced in India between 1600 and 1800. Dutch and Portuguese traders took it to Europe - usually in the form of bed linens where it gradually spread to European produced textiles and then onto other items, like pottery, which is known as chintzware. Now we know chintz to mean very florid patterns.
