When you're in high school and college, having an attractive mother is terrible. But as you get older, you start to see having an attractive mother as the gift that it is. Now that I'm in my 20's, I'm starting to appreciate how wonderful having a hot mama really is. But, my high school self still lingers in the back of my mind, telling me how terrible it was. With this battle being waged in my brain, I feel like I can tell you the 7 best and worst things about having an attractive mother.
My mom and I are about the same size and (even though I make fun of her a lot) she does have a great sense of style. So, my absolute favorite thing about having an attractive mother is that I get to steal *ahem* borrow all of her clothes. It's a little harder with her living on the other side of the country but I manage.
I wish I could say this was a joke, but the following story is 100% true. My mom and I went to college at the same time and she wound up being in a class with one of my guy friends. He had no idea she was my mother since we have different last names. One day my mother came home to tell me that a boy in her class had asked her to coffee, but she had said no because he looked like he was about my age. Later, when my guy friend came over, I introduced him to my mother and he seemed to pale. Turns out, he was the boy that asked her out. Not exactly a fun time to be in the same dating pool as your mother.
You know that saying, "If you want to see your wife in 20 years, look at her mother." That's a saying because it's true. If you're grumpy about how hot your mom is, remember that in about 20 years, that will be you.
I don't know why it's so annoying when people assume that your mother is your sister, but it really is. I can't tell you how many times my mother was hit on in the grocery store and then the guy would turn to me and say something along the lines of, "You must love having a cool big sister." Yeah, I would love it. If it were true.
One of my favorite things about my mom is that she doesn't wear a lot of makeup. She's just naturally good-looking. That taught me that I didn't need a lot of makeup. But, as time has passed, my mom has become the person that I look to for what makeup is age-appropriate, how much makeup I need for certain events, and what the best brands are!
Have you ever been single at the same time as your mother? I have, and let me tell you, it's not as fun as it sounds, because 99.999% of the time, my mom was getting asked out more than I was (even by guys my age). Nothing is more of a blow to the self-esteem than your mother coming home with a pocket full of numbers, when all you get when you go out is creepy stares from old guys that want to smell your hair.
Since my mom and I have the same body shape and size, I look to her for all my fashion tips. She'll tell me if something is too old for me and I'll do the same for her (Pro-tip: anything from Coldwater Creek is too old for a 41-year-old). She'll also share anything that she sees that looks good on me. I look to her most of the time to tell me what clothes will make me look best.
Well ladies, these are the best and worst things that I think come with having an attrative mother. What are some of your hot mama joys and woes? Let me know down below!
