We get jobs and move across the country, we move away for college, or maybe we just simply move away to start over! No matter the reason, long distance friendships have become a fact of life. 1. Social Media Exists
Thanks to social media, long distance friendships are easier than ever before. You can essentially talk to your long distance friend all day every day, thanks to Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, and Skype, just to name a few. There’s always some form of out there that can keep you talking all day.
2. Seeing Each Other Becomes More Fun
Hanging out becomes an event when you have a long distance friend. You get to count down to the days you see them and you get to spend time planning them. It’s much more special when you only get to see your friends a few times a year rather than a few times a week!
3. It’s Easy to Make Time for Them
The cool thing about long distance friendships is that you never have to make time to hang out with them, even when you’re insanely busy. Your non-long distance friends could get annoyed with you if you weren’t able to hang out for a little while, but when it comes to long distance friends, text conversations don’t exactly need planning in advance. You can “hang out” with your long distance friend no matter what the rest of your life is like!
4. You’re Less Likely to Get Sick of Them
Everyone needs a break from their friends every once in a while, even if they’re your best friends. When you have a long distance friend, you won’t get sick of them because you can’t spend a lot of time with them. It’s harder to get sick of someone you only get to physically hang out with a few times a year!

Social media is fun, but never knowing when you’re going to get a letter from your friend is even better!

6. Share Your Favorites
Although it’s easy to do this with friends who aren’t long distance, it’s a lot of fun to watch your favorite TV shows and movies with long distance friends. Talking on the phone or texting while watching your favorite movies or TV shows can feel like you’re watching them together, even if you’re thousands of miles apart! It gives you something that brings you together, and makes you feel like you actually are together! It’s a great way to stay connected to your long distance friends!
7. Presents
Sure, you can give your friends who aren’t long distance presents, but just like handwritten letters, long distance presents are just as fun. Most companies will send gifts directly to the recipient, which not only makes it easier, but a lot of fun when it comes to waiting for your friend to get your gift!

Camille: So excited for my long distance bestie to come out for a visit next month! My bf and I are long distance as well and that is really tough, especially when it's be a while since we've seen each other and no way to see each other soon. So thankful for FaceTime bc that makes it a little easier. We "hangout" at night and watch TV and fall asleep together, love him.
